Although I am an autograph collector I don't have any autographed DVDs. I need to step my game up.

My sister was able to get me Parry Shen again over at the GH Fan Club Weekend in Glendale, CA.

He signed my Hatchet II and III DVD sleeves. I don't own the 4th film (Victor Crowley), so I have to get that for later.

If you order a copy of Who Killed Captain Alex from Wakaliwood Productions, you're likely to get a signed copy! Mine came personalized with my name written on the disc and everything! No extra charge, really brought a smile to my face.

My sister attended a fan event for "General Hospital" and got Cynthia Watros to sign my copy of "Fear Itself" (2008).

She appeared in one episode of the NBC short-lived horror anthology and said she was surprised that someone remembered that show.

The only signed DVD I have is a copy of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, autographed by Alan Ruck. I'd post a pic, but I'm not entirely sure where it is at the moment (I still have boxes of unpacked stuff, that I haven't opened since moving 4 years ago).

Haven't really been an autograph collector outside of mainly baseball cards as a kid, but they're interesting experiences. It's really tough for interactions to be anything but awkward. I've noticed among the more interesting engagements have been the few times I stumbled upon people who actually offered their autographs for free like at fairs and they generally seemed surprised that I didn't know who they were so it was almost like they were trying to win me over.

The actual convention type route of paying for each autograph and picture isn't that appealing to me. And at the same time I'd feel embarrassed asking someone for an auto in public. But I do think autos are kind of cool. As a kid, it was fun opening a pack of baseball cards and finding a signed card. And I used to occasionally get them at wrestling shows, comedy events, etc. There was no charge back then.

Probably my favorite was for Jeff Foxworthy in the 90s since he was really cool and asked about each person, talked about the area, shared his own stories and put everyone at ease. He stayed probably several hours after his comedy show and didn't complain that some people probably brought too much for him to sign. I didn't see him pressure a single person to buy anything from his nearby merch table, and he seemed genuine in wanting to do the signings and meet fans.

I do agree with this, but I've broken down recently. A perfect example is when you think of cult movies/niche movies, where sometimes these folks didn't do much else afterwards and /or gave up acting. Paying for their autograph at first felt kinda scumy to me (years ago), but then I realized that at some of these smaller conventions, they are making any and all money from autographs alone. They may get a stipend, but most likely they are paying their way to get there, hotel accomodations, food, etc. So I chalk it up to that.

I'm actually super excited, bought a very nice art print of the movie Dawn of the Dead and am having it signed by 3/4 of the main characters. Dawn is my favorite movie of all time, so no matter the cost, this is worth it to me.
