Nothing about the 2nd pic looks worse. This looks to be a massive upgrade. Looking forward to full 1080 comparisons and a price drop.

OMG

This picture is blowing me away. Look at the masterful cinematography in this shot! The texture, the subtle bloom from the sun and clouds!

I can't wait to see this movie in all its 1080p glory!

WOW!

FINALLY this movie looks much closer to how it should have the first time.
(want to watch the disc before I give a final verdict)
but thank god Universal has most likely righted their most egregious bd disaster.
hopefully Spartacus is next on the agenda.

I don't know which is which, and I'm far from an expert reviewer, but the first pictures look to have EE, while the second pictures look to have DNR.

The first pics have large amounts of both. The second pics may have DNR, but too early to be sure.

I certainly will not be upgrading my 2010 version until #1, I read some comparison reviews and #2, the price comes down.
On the caps provided in this thread, IMO its really hard to judge a new transfer without seeing it in motion.

On the topic of new BD transfers, does anybody here know of a new BD transfer that was inferior to the older transfer?

Though after looking at the caps sutter provided I will say that I am glad I did not sell my 2010 version right away, especially given the current ~$35 price tag that the new one has right now.

Predator redo was worse for sure.
that's the only one that jumps out at the moment.
I don't get what people don't understand about the first Out Of Africa--the original bd was imo the absolute WORST bd of a major film ever issued by a major studio.
the idea that this "new" release won't be 100000% better is absurd.
the first bd release looks like upscaled garbage I can assure you.
the backgrounds are the blurriest mess I've ever seen on a major release, and I was completely stunned at how awful it was when I first watched it.
the "old" release is not worth even talking about.
simple as that.
it was TOTAL garbage plain and simple except for the sound.

Can't tell much from such small pics but the colors look more filmic and the ghastly EE is gone. Promising.
