Perhaps it's my age, but I find the Prequel trilogy to be near-perfect. Whereas the Original trilogy looks like crap.

Please don't stone me for blasphemy.

Since I didn't see any of the films in Theaters, this will be the first time Lucas gets my money.

ruh roh. The hating starts

I will go not because I want TPM in theatres (i would always be buying the 3Dblu though!) but because I want the REST to definitely be greenlit and succeed theatrically. So we definitely get all 6 on 3Dblu.

If the first one does big $$ I may not even go to the next ones theatrically.

I agree with you in that I would like to get another crack at seeing the original trilogy in theaters again, even if only in 3D (which I despise).

But...I don't want to see them bad enough fork over money to endure a 3D viewing of TPM or ATOC (Maybe ROTS, but the first two..No!!).

I went to a taping of Stephen Colbert's show last week, and during the pre-show Q&A someone asked him if he was going to see the Star Wars prequels in 3D. He very quickly said "No!" and explained that it would be even worse in 3D because "the sucking will come right at you!"

He also said the only thing worse than the prequels in 3D is the Holiday Special in 3D.

That being said, I'm totally seeing it. It's Star Wars in 3D, how can I skip that??

I am sure he will but he won't be getting mine this time around. No one enjoy Star Wars as much as I do but I have no need to see them in 3D. I am glad for those who will be enjoying these in theaters again but I won't be one of them

Because Of my eyes I won't be seeing the film in 3D. My left eye is a little weak so I wear glasses and the 3D glasses are a pain when you wear glasses. I also get a bit of headache from 3D as well. I am looking forward to 3D without glasses as well. Also I wish they would save 3D for certain, special films not every film that was ever created. What is next? Slap Shot 3D?

Well, that depends on what OTHER directors were gee-whiz awed by James Cameron, and thought they could do this new 3-D thing too--
Peter Jackson certainly was, and got Spielberg along for the ride, Martin Scorsese demonstrated his love, George Lucas showed he could do it too, and even James Cameron was awed with love for James Cameron's 3-D work...

I am definitely going to see this in theaters.

I have already made arrangements with some of my friends, who really want to catch it in theaters as well.

One of them has a double premiere ahead of him: First time a SW flick in the theater, and first time a 3-D film ever.

Some of them have never seen SW on the big screen.

One of them, a girl, has only seen the PT, and love it. The only Sci-fi/Fantasy movies she likes.

Can't wait to see what it will look like in 3-D, and I hat 3-D.

I am not a fan of 3D but I am too much of a Star Wars fan not to check this out. I've seen all 6 films in the theater already (if you count the "special editions" of the OT in the late 90's) but I'm just too curious about this to pass it up.

Not a chance, George. Crap in 3D is still crap. That being said, I hope the 3D trailer is made available for downloading on the PS Store just so I can see how the post-conversion turned out.

Several things:

1. I love the Darth Maul lipton ice-t commercial. "Getting too old for this I am."

2. Of the prequel trilogy, I like phantom menace best of the 3, mostly because there is no real crappy romance dialog in it, I love the 4 layer ending, especially Maul and the starfighter part. And it was exciting to go to the theater and see a new star wars movie for the first time in years (not including the re-release of the original trilogy)

3. I want to see this in 3D (versus normally being 3D averse) because of the time and process they put into it giving me confidence that it will be cool.

4. My son who is now 4 1/2 has really gotten into the clone wars cartoons and has some of the figures. He has seen most of the entire boxset and knows the movies pretty well. Its amazing how he is the same age as I was when Star Wars came out. So I think it will be exciting for him to see a movie in the theaters. Not sure how he will handle the 3-D though.

Looks good. I'll wait for it if the 3D version ever reaches blu-ray.

All excellent points! Especially the last one. I am definately taking my oldest boy to see Star Wars on the big screen. There really isn't anything like it. By the time Jedi comes out, I'll be taking my youngest son (Anikan) to see it!

I was so happy in '97, when a young me was able to see Star Wars "the way it was meant to be seen" (so angry when a 17 year old me was denied access to The Exorcist, being 18+ in my stupid country).

I'm not a Lucas hater and I'm not even a prequel hater, but I saw the 3D trailer when I went to see Hugo in 3D and I have to say that in my opinion, the 3D quality was incredibly bad. (Same for Titanic 3D). (The 3D in Hugo was fantastic.)

It seems to me that trying to change 2D movies to 3D is an incredibly bad idea using the current technology. Maybe by the time he gets to Episode IV it will be better.

I originally thought I would go to see this theatrically, but after seeing the trailer, I'm not going to bother. I have a feeling that after word-of-mouth gets around, this isn't going to do all that well. I'm sure Lucasfilm will still make a profit and the theatrical release will be marketing for the eventual 3D BD, but it's not going to be big IMO.
