Question Interested in the Oppo BDP-93, Have questions.

So i've been interested in the Oppo BDP-93 for a while now. I see that many of the Blu-ray.com people are fans of it. I realize it's a top of the line player and all of that but I have some questions before I get serious about buying one. Before I go asking questions i'll tell you all what my setup is. I have a Panasonic 50" G25 Plasma Display, and for Blu-ray I'm currently using a PS3. I run all my HDMI devices (PS3, XBOX, Cable Box) Through my Sony receiver into 1 HDMI Port on my TV. Not sure if running stuff through it like that degrades the picture quality, so I thought i'd bring that fact up. Now some questions! First will I notice any difference in Picture, Audio or any other sort of quality comparing it to my PS3? What are the main reasons why someone would want to spend $500 on a player? I've seen that you can buy an additional "Region Free" Adapter, anyone that is currently using this tell me how it works and if they think it would be worth while? I do like ordering movies out of region, don't have any region locked stuff yet but I would definitely get some if the Chip was worthwhile. Thats really all I have to ask. If you have anything else to add, as i'm sure i'm forgetting things please feel free to address them. Thanks in advance

EDIT: Thought of another question, how good is it at Upconverting DVD's? I don't do this very often just on a few TV Shows I own.
