Oh yes, just what we need. A sequel to a remake of a movie called "The Karate Kid" that was singularly uncontaminated with anything that could be called karate. That's almost as good as "Twilight", a film about vampires (bloodsucking demons) uncontaminated with any blood and a main protagonist that sparkles like "Tinkerbell".

I don't care how much these movies make, there has to be a line that isn't crossed.

Aside from some obvious differences (e.g. Kung Fu, set in China, and a few other minor details), the remake was basically a carbon copy of the original. The movie script and story wasn't bad and I love Jackie Chan, but I loathe J. Smith soooo much that I despised the film.

Really not interested, especially if Jaiden reprises his role(He was decent in the first one, but I don't think I can watch any new material after After Earth.) I'd actually be more interested in a film centered on Jackie Chan's character, to be honest.

I'm not normally one to rush into a thread of a film I don't like and shit on the idea but this just has WHO THE HELL CARES written all over it.

They sold the BRAND name (should have been called "The Kung Fu Kid") and while Jackie Chan was actually decent, the film lacked anything that made the original so endearing and timeless.

Instead of rebooting it they should've just made another sequel using original cast members, no matter how old they are.

Call it 'Karate Man 5'

Don't really want "Middle-aged Karate Man" either. Whatever, if they want to do a sequel they will do it but it is very lame and I think it is bad when they are putting such money into these films because someone with a little name value is behind it. If it wasn't for the Smith name being involved, this would be a B movie with a lot smaller budget (and probably a better film).

I enjoyed the first flick and look forward to the second one. I did not see After Earth, but I don't get all the hate in regards to Jayden Smith.

This movie actually happened? I don't recall hearing anything about it filming. But there's a screening of it next Saturday.

Probably a one week limited/VOD run to satisfy SAG requirements followed by a DVD release. Similar to Max 2 a few weeks back (yes, there is a Max 2 and it played in theatres).

Any chance this is just a quick sequel-in-name-only cheapy DVD/VOD release? Seems like if Chan and Smith are involved, there would've been more publicity.

Loves and own the remake, watches it regularly. But I'm not looking forward for a sequel.

Can't remember when was the last time I watched the originals.
