Warner is just milking one of it's cash cows for all it's worth.

Yeah, I don't see the big deal. With a tentpole like this, why wouldn't you expect them to milk it. And given the pace of blu ray adoption pulling this for a while allows more people to get players and buy this upon release.

Hopefully, they use this to fund other catalog titles, but we'll see about that.

+1. The last few posts have been speculation and then some. It is more than likely just a re-release.

I agree...no big deal. It will be same master, slightly new packaging. The moratorium supposedly builds up demand, but more than that, for people who know that a film is going back in the vault, it encourages them to buy now instead of waiting thinking that the video release will always be available.

And vaulting doesn't mean you can't buy it at retail - it just means that WHV won't ship any more. But in today's market, where all this will do is drive up prices on eBay and the like while it's in the vault, I wonder whether this helps or hurts WHV.

I know Disney always thought this release policy was beneficial to them, but I frankly wonder. If my kid has turned an age appropriate for a given Disney classic cartoon and I want them to see it and it's in the vault and won't be released again for another three years, I'm just going to buy something else for the kid. I may never wind up buying the vaulted film because by the time it's re-released, the kid might no longer be interested.

If Disney were smart, they would use the release of the new film to push a BD release for Return to Oz. That is by far one of my favorite films I own, and would love to have it on Blu.

Speaking of Return to Oz, I let our neighbor borrow it for her grandson... they couldn't even watch it because he got too scared. Lmao

This is good news because I have this movie on both DVD and BD. I've been dying to sell my DVD copy for the longest time. I was unable to sell it before because it wouldn't sell on Ebay even though I put the darn thing up for only $5. Now, once this goes in the vault, it will probably sell.
