Yeah and if thats true they really need to stop it! Stop releasing DVDs with blu-ray.

At huge price points it becomes burdensome to blu-ray consumers as opposed to regular consumers who have a DVD player and ps3 with some blu.

Taking away the DVD's would make it a 23 disc set you should pay maybe 250-280$ for.

[Show spoiler]Lets see...

I paid about 40$ U.S for the 8 film UK set, on Amazon UK. So for 5$ per movie I get the most important part - the movie...and I get commentaries and some tiny supplements like trailers probly.

Now this set wants me to shell out 8 times as much money for only 3 times as much content (As my current set has 10 discs.) It seems I don't have the 3D versions of Hallows 1&2 and so in time I will buy those individual releases on special if I love the movies (aint seen them yet).

Bottom line is. Even if I loved Harry Potter a lot, which I would argue if true, I would only pay 4 times as much money for 3 times as much content as the 8-film set. 4 times to give recognition of better packaging available here.

So I would pay 160$ for this, if at all. It is just a logical generous breakdown of my current purchase which already has the most important things in it for me - the MOVIES. If I love harry potter on BD and I fall in love with the characters more than when watched on DVD, I will get this set for between 100 and 200 bucks when it comes down to that. Provided it has the 3D versions of Hallows 1/2 and every cut of every movie.

Exactly.

I thought the 14 or whatever discs on Lord of the Rings was insane, since half of them were DVD's. This is even crazier. For a release like this, they should really just make them blu-ray only just to cut down on unnecessary "bulk".

No offence to Warners but the box would have to have some serious craftsmanship for me to spend more than a hundred bucks for it!

And bonus features are just that bonuses!

There's probably been less than twenty special features on DVD or Blu-ray I'd actually pay money for and half of those were made as documentaries twenty odd years before the format was even invented (and not as bonus EPK's!).

It would have been cool if they'd released a special edition From Page to Screen with the discs on hubs on the front and back covers, that would have been a nice release!

When I said DVD supplements, I meant the third discs included in the Ultimate Editions of 1-4 that were just port-overs of the original DVD editions. So our lists both match; I just labeled mine differently.

I'm a huge HP fan too, and I've been waiting to upgrade the first five movies to blu because I figured there would be a box set when the movies ended. And I assumed an 8-movie box set with bonus features would definitely be expensive.

But I never thought it would be as high as $350. That's insane. I'll be skipping this set as well if the price is that high, and I'm really disappointed about it, since I was really looking forward to this set.

Looks like alot of people are unloading their ultimate editions to help absorb the cost of the $500 mega set. http://www.ebay.com/sch/diggerbugg/m...id=p4340.l2562

I could see the value here for a collector, but not me.

I do not have any of the movies yet, but am considering the UK edition.

What I would really like is the set with both extended and theatrical editions. I do not really watch any extras (sometimes bloopers), but they are a nice bonus.

I am sure that Amazon will end up selling this for $250 within a month of release. The $500 price is ridiculous and extreme and a sad case of price gouging. I own the 2-disk DVD's of the first 6 movies , the Blu-ray limited luggage set of 1-5, and he blus of 6, 7.1 and 7.2 (The Best Buy and Target special bonus disk versions of 7.1 and 7.2. that is). Even $200 is a lot of money to ask for this to be honest. Nobody wants those digital codes.
They really need to go overboard and include pretty much any and all special features ever produced along with New special features for this to be worthwhile. Yes this is WB's cash cow and they are exploiting it for all that it is worth but they need to include something to make that very high price justifiable.

Someone did bring up a good point earlier. If you were to buy all the Ultimate editions separately and Deathly Hallows 3D separately you'd probably be paying just as much here, but you're getting a unique package, more content, DVD versions (albeit useless to many here) and who knows what else

It's still a little overpriced because it shouldn't cost as much, but less than the individual sets. If we're looking at the MSRP's of those sets however as I'm sure WB is ($49.99 each) then it's not a bad deal.

This is a really bad year to release something like this if you ask me... what with Indiana Jones and uh, the Bond collection coming out this year. I'm not buying this.

i just want to know if there will be extended versions for the prior HP movies, so i do not have to keep buying the upgrade. $350 for the whole set is a rip off, especially for those who simply watch the movie and not bother with the bonus features.

does anybody know if i should just start buying the old releases? i just want to get a complete blu-ray collection.
