"And in other news, this would normally go in The Rumor Mill, but it's easier to just post it here: We've been checking with our industry sources and have confirmed that 20th Century Fox is definitely planning to bring director James Cameron's The Abyss and True Lies to Blu-ray at long last. Sources tell us that the hope is to do a big promotion with the titles sometime next year. Why the wait? Cameron is a pretty busy guy these days, so these things take time. (Hey, when was the last time you tried diving to the deepest point in the ocean?) Nevertheless, rest assured that the two long-awaited films are definitely coming to Blu in the not-too-distant future. " So yes, it's still a rumor at this point. In fact, every title is a rumor until an announcement is made. He says they hope to do a big promo... nothing is definite. And I wouldn't call sometime in 2013 a general release date. If so, that's the broadest release date I've ever seen. |

There have been plenty of hints dropped about these two movies before, but then Jimbo ends up going to the bottom of the ocean yet again and the releases end up forgotten about. And with the Avatar sequels just around the corner, time is at a premium.
I'll rejoice when I get Abyss and True Lies in my greasy little hands, until then: pfffft. |

Yeah, and: cropped pictures, advertisement banners, logos, edited for content, no lossless audio, and highly compressed 1080i. These are the main reasons I don't watch movies over satellite.

I am hoping for a seamless branching disc like he did with Aliens. I am fairly certain that it could stretch it legs on a BD-50 with a commentary and then if he wants to throw in some more extras that won't compromise the PQ Cameron could always throw in a second BD-25.

![]() Yep. Everything that you mentioned, but those 'advertisement banners' that show up during the movie/show over the picture drive me absolutely *APE....*! It just baffles me that they keep doing this and are getting away with it. ![]() Also something else nutty, is when they speed up credits and talk over them. One example is when they do it to 'Gangs of New York', as it has a fantastic soundtrack on the credits that they now ruin. BTW, I heard that Spielberg's films(at least the ones he has made in the last ten years) cannot be altered in anyway when its televised. Is that correct??? .
