I'm curious to know too! If you buy a "previously viewed movie" from a place like GoHastings, is it possible that its the "RENTAL" (stripped down) version, or would they have to indicate "RENTAL" in the description? Basically, are they mutually exclusive terms? |

Since most of the Blockbuster stores around me are closing down, I don't have to worry about knockoff rental versions and I never buy from Hastings either. If I rent, I go to Family Video where the rentals have the extended and unrated versions despite the price of their new releases ($3.49) and semi-new releases are 2.09 and much older releases are $1.

No, the studios decided to do this so that people would be more apt to go out and purchase the version with all of the extra features.

I go through about 6-8 Netflix rental per week. Of those 6-8, easily half are of the Godforsaken "rental copy" variety! Of those rental copies, I purchased ZERO...of the 3-4 that were not rental copies, I purchased 1-2 per.
I hate rental copies, and hope they go the way of the dinosaur sooner rather than later! |
