It is obvious that the Ultimate Hunter Edition would've been hands down the better transfer if they didn't overdo the DNR this much. A lot of details on the UHE are visible that aren't on the first release. But as a whole, the DNR just ruins the viewing experience.

Well, it looks as if I am going to find out on the day I get it. But it will probably be the Ultimate DNR edition.

The original release has been out of print for quite sometime, the Trilogy set included the DNR edition so no reason to think the steelbook won't, after all Fox consider it the superior release.

Think i'll keep my 2 disc set of predator (with grain) and predator 2.It's pretty rare now and has a nice embossed slipcase .Must admit i have been considering buying the steelbook though and swapping discs like others have mentioned.

The 2008 release isn't in production anymore, so they wouldn't have any to give out.

I watched the original release recently and the grain isn't half as bad as people make out in the reviews

A few scenes here and there, but on the whole it looks awesome (just my opinion).

People should educate themselves about film grain.If you know nothing about it like i did it's easy to say what's wrong with the picture? I'd advise everyone to get 2 screenshots from both blu-rays and view them on your tv and keep flicking back and forth between them .Youll notice the DNR edition although contrast levels raised is totally blurred with fine detail gone.

Agreed. I'll put my hand up and admit I was one of those (initially) that had a real problem with grain. Then I watched a very interesting and informative video on You Tube relating to grain and got re-educated.

And now just to show my appreciation and respect for grain.....
