Well since I don't own these films I guess I'll pick this up. The current boxset is way too big for my limited shelf space, thank god for the new 4 disc G2's!

Yeah, that's what I'm doing, so the superfat UK set is going and in will come this beauty making room for at least 3 other blu's.

Also going will be the Bourne Set.

I currently have the alien one too, but not sure wether to sell my original 6 disc set LOL

I hate all these UK fat sets, so I'm really hoping there'll be more of these types of steelbook sets that will surely benefit from the diet.
1st on my want lists for these are -

Batman Anthology [4 discs]

If space is a premium, then these trilogy re-releases are a must-buy. I just wish they were doing something new with the discs inside as well as the packaging - all these continual rehashes of the same content, it seems like a missed opportunity especially as these are supposed to be 'centenary editions'.

At least the price isn't much above what the regular boxset trilogy is selling for right now.

Just been into the loft, found a couple of nice slips and came across these little beauties. Was thinking if they were to release these films separately on blu in steelbook form, what would you think of these. I think they'd look awesome, embossed and stuff.

Another plain back??

Maybe when we said we hate text on the back they took that to mean we hate anything on the back.

Yeah, although some steels do look good with a plain back. What picture would you choose for the back?

Not sure if I should bite on this or not. The first two are classics, but the thought of owning the third one... that's kinda terrifing

This steelbook is too expensive and I don't like the artwork at all.
Besides, who REALLY NEEDED this steelbook? They just keep releasing and this is one of those steelbooks I consider completely worthless and unnecessary!

Yes, I said that .

Depends if you already own the trilogy, which I do not. £26 for four discs in a SteelBook, come on, thats a decent price.

Will probably buy this since I've been very close to buying the normal set in the past, and it doesn't really cost that much more than the normal one.

Who really needs any steelbook? I'm not trying to be flippant, no-one needs steelbooks. Especially catalogue releases. So you're re-releasing the same discs but in new packaging? So what? It's never needed.

But people like them. People want them. You do. I do. Others do. No-one needed an Iron Man steelbook in the way you use 'needed' above. No-one needs Watchmen. But people obviously want them.

£27 is a lot of money for one steelbook, I agree (£20 would have been great, just like the Alien films - but they're different studios setting the price) but it's three films. And it's a classic film trilogy. Two of the films in here are considered by critics and audiences alike as two of the greatest and most important films in history. Do they 'need' a steelbook? No but they full deserve to be treated as prestigious films. If Shooter is worthy of being celebrated by Paramount in steelbook form for its centenary then The Godfather trilogy definitely deserves it.

You may not like the price or the artwork (personally I like how simple and classy it is) and that's fair enough. But the rest of your comment, deeming the steelbook worthless and unnecessary is silly hyperbole. You might not 'need' this steelbook, doesn't mean others don't.

Sorry if it seems like a rant, I just thought it was a rather stupid point you were making

imo its the best looking case for a boxset there is. thick cardboard with lovely gold embosssing and the signature at the bottom looks fantastic.
