But if one were to get the 1-disc BD and the 3-disc DVD set, they would.

definitely looks like the 3-disc DVD + standard BD are the way to go... not only can they both be had for about $20, but even the bonus disc on the BD doesn't contain all of the features from the DVD. looks like i'll be going this route, which would bring my Evil Dead collection to...

Evil Dead Book of the Dead DVD
Evil Dead Ultimate Edition DVD
Evil Dead BD

Evil Dead II Limited Edition tin
Evil Dead II 25th Anniversary BD

Army of Darkness Boomstick Edition DVD - (holding out for a better BD release)

Evil Dead (1-disc Anchor Bay DVD)
Evil Dead (Limited Edition BD/DVD set)
Evil Dead 2 (1-disc Anchor Bay DVD)
Evil Dead 2 (Lionsgate)
Army of Darkness (1-disc Director's Cut DVD)
Army of Darkness (Theatrical BD)

I'm content with this series, regardless of what few features I'm missing.

I only have The Evil Dead(Single Disc) and Evil Dead 2(lionsgate). I want Army of Darkness but, I think I should hold out for a better Blu. I've heard bad things about Universal's 2009 disc.

I own:

Evil Dead Ultimate Edition DVD
Evil Dead Limited Edition Blu-ray

Evil Dead II Book of the Dead DVD
Evil Dead II 25th Anniversary Blu-ray

Army of Darkness DVD (MGM R3 Director's Cut)
Army of Darkness Screwhead Edition DVD & Blu-ray

I feel like my collecton is complete even though I would like to see the MGM R3 Army of Darkness DVD reproduced as a Blu-ray.

On BD, I have the 2 disc LE of Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2 Lionsgate release, and Army of Darkness. I can't recommend the first two enough. I only picked up AoD because it was cheap and I was curious - lol - but it's honestly not too bad.

This may seem like overkill, but, I bought the one disc Evil Dead blu ray (I sadly missed the boat on the limited edition 2 disc blu ray), and the 3 disc ultimate edition DVD set of Evil Dead. I then went to casetopia.com, got myself a four disc blu ray case, and slapped together my own ultimate edition of Evil Dead. I'm thinking of doing the same for the Universal blu for Army of Darkness combined with the 2 disc Boomstick Editon of Army of Darkness DVD

Nah, doesn't seem like overkill at all. Instead it's a great idea

Screwhead edition is the only version out in the U.S. And all others are region locked I believe (shame too because it appears the UK version has both endings available; however, the DC is standard def.)

My thanks, mate! I'm about to pull the same act with Halloween. 1.) The Blu Ray, 2.) The DVD, 3 and 4.) The 2 Disc Halloween 25 Years Of Terror Documentary. Boo ya.

Pretty sure someone answered this very question earlier in the thread, but the UK BD has less noise reduction but is still from the same vomit-and-diarrhea master used for the US BD, and it's locked to Region B.

It doesn't cost much. DDDHouse has it for eight bucks and shipping will be $5 or under if you're in the US, but outside the US it'll probably still be inexpensive to import.

Anyway, since others have listed the Evil Dead videos they have, here are all mine thus far. Copies for preferred viewing are in italics.

[Show spoiler]The Evil Dead
Elite Entertainment DVD
The Book of the Dead DVD
2002 Anchor Bay DVD (with the "Ladies of Evil Dead" booklet)
Anchor Bay Ultimate Edition DVD
Anchor Bay Limited Edition 2-Disc Blu-ray

Evil Dead II
'98 widescreen VHS
THX DVD
The Book of the Dead DVD
Anchor Bay Blu-ray
Lionsgate 25th Anniversary Blu-ray

Army of Darkness
1999 widescreen VHS
Limited Edition Director's Cut DVD
MGM Hong Kong DVD
Boomstick Edition DVD
Screwhead Edition Blu-ray

Pretty absurd.

Yea, that makes sense. I was thinking the commentary would be on the bonus DVD, but, duh, it would be with the movie itself on the Blu-ray. So yea, great idea on getting the single disc Blu and the ultimate edition DVD.

I'd like to point out that the Evil Dead remake is coming out in April of 2013, so I'm sure we can count on the three different companies that own each of the original 3 films to capitalize on that name and release something special for the three films.

I've got the same, but I only picked up AoD for completion's sake. I have to say the EE on AoD really bugs me and makes the picture look too artificial, like The Phantom Menace DVD.

I'd love to see Shout/Scream Factory do AoD with fully-restored alternate cuts, new extras etc. but at the same time you can find the current release for less than $8 at Wal-mart. It's now the red-headed stepchild of the trilogy HD-wise but even so it simply isn't the abomination the Anchor Bay ED2 was.

Simply put AoD could be better on Blu but it's easily worth the price it goes for now.

I actually think AB's EDII BD looks better than the AOD BD. It's a waxed-over mess with tons of DNR, but I prefer that over the heavy EE and sun-baked vomit look of the latter. Neither looks good, but if I had to pick my poison, I'd rather have a BD look like the former.

I asked Shout! about releasing it and Cliff said he'd love to, so maybe with Scream Factory releasing some other Universal titles there's a possibility for this to happen, ideally with both cuts and hopefully the additional deleted scenes taken from a film source.
