you're not missing anything... Those who bought the French were so disappointed with the surprised NO INSIDE artwork...gotta persuade others that the French is better so they can sell it on eBay for the price they bought it LOL...

I like the German much better as well.

Gotta say that's a really nice bonus to get with the steelbook if you bagged it in time as the price was a bit higher than france etc. I guess with the magnetic cover and then the book, it would seem perfectly priced

Hope i succeed in your PM thing Mate

I know that amazon has the book in stock, but the buyers of the steelbook don't pay anything, because it's a gift.

So I think it's a great deal to get the steelbook + book for 30€ (39$).

It seems to be unavailable, that is OOP, so you might want to hurry up before the prices skyrocket. Just a heads up.

from what I recall, they dont ship to UK so gonna eye the dreaded ebay or may settle for the french one

its just that the german one looks more vivid and less like the UK slipcase - deeper colours

ALERT! There are many scenes in Titanic 3D bluray which are not open-matte but pan & scanned from the 2.35:1 screen to 1.78:1, by cutting off the sides, while exposing relatively nil amount of info vertically.
I guess what Jim Cameron said that 'there is nothing cut, its added material' is actually a partial lie! The VFX shot may be full open-matte cause they were composed in a 16:9 screen, but all of the non CG shots were not pretected for 1.78:1 when they were filmed in 1996. As a result there are many shots which have either selective pan-scan(cropped on the sides, exposed vertically) or full Pan&scan like movies shot with anamorphic lenses!
I figured this out after comparing it with my old 4-Disc special edition PAL DVD of Titanic.

Still, the 3D version IS approved by Cameron, so it's not like you're not getting his vision in the end regardless if you lose some information here or there...

Yeah,

I got the last Steelbook in our Media Markt. They are very rare and limited, and every shop get max. 40 exeples.

Basically he couldn't have done anything for the shots which had been hard matted to a scope ratio. So he had to pan & scan them to 1.78:1. So Cameron in that interview about 3D conversion shouldn't have said that there wouldn't be anything cut from the image, it would be "added material", which wasn't the case. And when he says that he removed Boom mikes and other set parts above the scope area by digitally removing them, that work wasn't done on an extensive scale for the entire exposed frame or even 1.78:1 area.

Here are some screenshot comparisons-

Sorry about the quality of the screens, I had to compress them highly!
