I personally prefer Thor over Avengers.

But I give all of the films in the Avengers series a 4.5/5 anyway so its not that huge of a gap of preference.

Shame on Nolan, these are only a few of my qualms, BANES VOICE = SO BAD.

Avengers = The Win.

There was no Cabin in the Woods vote
The Avengers also had a few plot holes, like how did Odin send Thor back to Earth? and how convenient that the professor made a way how to close the portal when he was mind controlled, also why did all the aliens died after Iron Man destroyed their home planet?

Those arent plot holes, those are more like questions. Obviously the Aliens were controlled by where they were from and when the planet blew up they died along with it. Thats not a plot hole, u just wanted an explanation I guess. A plot hole is when sumthin doesnt make sense and even an explanation wouldnt work. Got Em!!

I have to give the edge to TDKR. Both are great films, but I really enjoyed the story in TDKR, whereas in Avengers it was more about the action. It was extremely cool to see the Hulk again. I thought he really stole the show.

I was actually an extra in Avengers (one of the SHIELD guards at the beginning). Unfortunately I didn't make the final cut.

Now I see why Rises is #21 on the IMDB 250. Ridiculous. Nolan has a massive fanboy following

Liked both movies, but I am going with Avengers.

Avengers was a ton of fun to watch (maybe because I am a Marvel - and specifically Avengers - fan), and had a great pace for a longer movie (a second viewing did not drag at all for me). I just really loved seeing all of the Avengers onscreen at once, and the chemistry between the characters was perfect. Overall, a very good action movie and superhero movie.

TDKR was a very good movie, though not as good as BB IMO (Batman Begins is my favorite of the three). Bane was a great villain and I was glad to see him potrayed as brutal and intimidating, and not a joke. I also really liked Catwoman in the movie. However, there were some gaps in logic in the movie (mostly regarding timeframes), but there were some in Avengers as well. I guess when a movie is more story driven as TDKR, they are more noticeable, which is knocks TDKR down a few pegs.

Overall:

Avengers 5/5
TDKR 4/5

Both very good movies

I'm surprised it's winning the poll considering the general reaction Avengers seemed to have and that it also has the better box office result.

The Avengers has Rises covered by 6 points on RT right now as well

Avengers was unlike any super hero movie before it. Rises felt like a tired retread of "The Dark Knight". It gets a pass though because Nolan's fans thinks he takes comic book/hero movies to the next level with "realism" (yeah right) and more realistic characters, all of which aren't needed in hero/comic book movies.

Mindless superhero action is always going to be more popular with the general public and frankly younger kids in general. I think Nolan made a huge marketing mistake not dressing Hathaway up in a real Catwoman costume. The general public wanted to see that in the press, to get excited about TDKR.

So the general public and kids are responsible for The Avenger's 93% RT score? Thats funny, I thought with all the mindless action in the Transformers movies they would have scored higher.

I had no problem with the "catwoman" costume in Rises. I just disliked how the character was a "invincible karate master that cant be touched and outsmarts everyone" cliche. Quite the difference from Pfeiffer's Catwoman which got hurt badly several times in Batman Returns

Yes #21 imdb = why people chose Rises over Avengers. I can totally see the similarities. Looks like someone is mad because people think Rises is better than the Avengers. Don't think you would be doing this if it were the other way around. So sick of 'fanboys', 'overrated' and 'pretentious'. I'd love to go one day without seeing these overused words on a message board.

Steven Spielberg has been making movies for 40 years and he has 1 movie in the top 25 on IMDB. This is the same guy who made ET, Close Encounters, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, the list just goes on and on.

Nolan has been directing for 10 years and he already has 3 top 25 IMDB movies?

Good point about TDKR feeling like a retread of TDK. I mean I still liked it but that is sorta on point actually. The Avengers is just on another level when it comes to comic book films and its sumthin that has never been done before and the first of its kind. Got Em!!
