How do you like it when you buy something for £50 and then someone say "Well I got it for £10"? The prices people pay for things is respective of how they feel. You get a good buy, you feel happy, you get a bad buy you feel let down.
When concert tickets go on sale for ridiculous prices, Bon Jovi doesn't do a concert for those who missed out for £10 each because they missed out. They missed out, end of. This is commonplace in the free world. I suppose the only way to stay on the right side of the fence is to pretend ebay does not exist. But how many people will make the mistake of paying a high price for something only for it to come out again later on for a fraction? if you want debates like this to stop, then ask play.com to stop raping everyone of their collections. Because keeping things in mint condition for 5 years only to find brand new editions are coming out is kind of wearing thin. edit - I don't like having these threads without artwork. The titles should be announced with artwork. Cos I couldn't give a hoot if its got different artwork. |

Besides, this has never got a UK steelbook release before. That's the market Play.com is serving. If someone has imported a foreign release then so what? A UK retailer has every right to supply the UK market with a UK-specific product. Too many people on here assume everyone is like them and is so into the collecting side of blu-rays that they know about all the different versions and import from all over the world. But they're not - there's a much bigger market outside of this forum, people who will just be pleased to get this in a steelbook and not know or care that there's a "rare" version out there. Besides, if you're happy with the original steelbook then what's the problem? It's the one you want, you got it for a price you were happy with. The Play.com won't replace it - as much as the Play.com Iron Man goes for it'll never replace the FS version as the Holy Grail of steelbooks because real collectors know of its reputation and collectability. Same thing here. Hopefully it'll have different artwork and everyone will be happy. |

I would be surprised if more people liked the fs iron man better than the play one, thats the deciding factor which one looks best combined with scarcity, what could they do to make a better looking zombieland? Same artwork or its worse imo.

Same debate in basically every steel thread, that is what is wearing thing. People should buy a release they like, irrespective of value now or future value, who cares if someone buys the same movie in a re-release steel 2 years down the line for less than I paid, it has no bearing on me or my collection so why would it bother me? Value will not affect genuine collectors as they will rarely sell, the only people it will bother will be those looking at selling and profit making, in which case, hard luck |

The German "Zombieland" wasn't "rare", I bought it for retail when it was released. It was available for awhile to anyone that wanted one and priced like any other Blu-ray steelbook at the time.
All these newbies that are trying to find desirable releases that sold out years ago, are going to pay inflated prices trying to find someone that bought one new and sat on it all this time. That not "rareness" that's supply and demand. The BestBuy Exclusive non-steelbook "Zombieland - Nut Up or Shut Up" Edition was rare (2000 copies) when released and still expensive. This Play.com "Zombieland" will probably be the typical, Play cheapie release. It's not going to make me feel any different about my German release, and I'm going to pick up a copy of it. Newbs might want to get one now, it'll be "rare" in a year or two. ![]() |

knowing play.com they will use the same artwork as the german release...............as ive said before, for collectors it sucks knowing that your rare steelbooks anyday could be re-produced by play.com AND at the rate play.com are selling steelbooks, i woudlnt be suprised if next year they dont release even more steelbooks of all the rare ones we cant get hold of anymore like john rambo, comic con sucker punch etc
they are moving at an insane rate and i dont think they are going to stop till they have raped every steelbook and profited as much as possible from this part of the market. they are releasing roughly 4 steelbooks a month at the moment. for newbies and people that missed out- its heaven and of course these people will rub it in others faces who paid more. i sit in between these 2 views as i agree and disagree with both Last edited by DJJez; 08-29-2012 at 02:31 PM. |

If you removed all the posts about how one release devalues another, or how there's now too many steelbooks or how annoying it is that the artwork is the same (or even different) some of the threads would be half as long. I don't get those who say 'but this has already had a steelbook release'. Sure, loads of films have in various countries, but it's often nice to have one from your own territory rather than having to hunt around on Ebay, rely on forum members or get hit with customs charges/high shipping fees. |
