That one's a hoot. I was just channel surfing once and came upon that movie. I'm surprised they didn't make a sequel.

I read then deleted my two posts from last night. I don't like rude people, yet was being one myself. Everybody has a right to their own opinion and their own taste in movies.
I apologize sincerely. |

My success rate with Blind buys is around 99%.
One recent Blind Buy that I was disappointed in however was Rampart....Woody Harrelson was great but the movie never takes off and I just wasn't that interested in the character and his family life. |

Since I've virtually stopped doing blind buys two years ago, my collection has not been plagued by bad movies recently. Even when I did blind-buy, it was very uncommon for me to choose poorly. Perhaps the last time was The Haunting in Connecticut.
OTOH, if you look at it from another perspective, there are plenty of movies other people consider bad that I've bought recently, like Joker 2 and Knowing. |

John Carpenter's Vampire. Not very good. I mean, I enjoyed it as a vampire fan, but you can't really recommend it to anyone.

The only blind buys I've made that turned out to be crap are all 80s slasher films. A few times there's been a remaster of a classic title that I've never seen before (often an "video nasty"), and I've been swayed by the enthusiasm of people on BD forums. Assuming that it must be something of a hidden gem if it's getting a restoration with extra features.
They almost always turned out to be utter shite that people told themselves was good through six generations of pirated analogue video noise forty years ago. And duped themselves into thinking it will be amazing if it's been scanned direct from the OCN. Bollocks. |

I have a good record for my many blind buys, but I recently bought three movies I hadn’t seen before, Cabin Fever 2,3 and the remake. They were all turd.
Don’t know what possessed me. Last edited by Steedeel; 04-23-2025 at 03:29 PM. |

On my own personal rating scale, I'd have to rate a movie a 3/10 to be bad. Even a 4/10 is just poor, while a 5/10 is mediocre. I don't own movies I consider a 3/10. I blind buy frequently, but I know my tastes well enough. Sometimes, a blind buy doesn't quite hit, but it's rare that I think they're bad. I don't own any movies I consider poor (or 4/10), though the upcoming Jason Goes to Hell 4K from Arrow will probably the only one I will have in my collection that I, personally, believe is poor, but even I can extract some entertainment value from something I consider poor.

I like low budget B horror movies if they have a lot of horror in them. If they're mostly talking that doesn't advance the story, with hardly any interesting horror, then I am not a fan.
But I have a number of blind buys at 5 dollars or less new on DVD that I took out of the case, remove the sleeve art and toss the space filling DVD case (sadly they're not recyclable) if I can't use it for something else, and put the movie DVD onto a spindle rack, most times not seen again since of my 1000+ movies. Probably 1500+ by now. Most of my movies on DVD, blu ray and UHD I keep in the cases and sorted out. I'll rewatch them on my 100" movie projector on the weekend once every 2 to 5 years probably. It's good to have that option to watch a movie whenever you want without commercials or needing internet. The reason I still buy blu ray, DVD and sometimes UHD if it includes a blu ray. |
