May wanna check your local theater, tonight the screening start. Mine starts @ 7:30 PM tonight and they have another showing on the 30th. I have another theater that is starting tomorrow night at like 11 PM.
http://www.screenvision.com/cinema-events/halloween/ Less then 90mins (not counting their approx 25 min of usual commercials/trailers lol), can't wait. Looks like the UK will have some showings also from the banner ad they have. I copied the UK link, see if that helps. http://www.showcasecinemas.co.uk/eve...ents/halloween |

Just got back. Was disappointed in my exhibition.
It was very clearly just the Blu-ray playing on the theatre screen. The Blu-ray was basically fine when it came out 5 years ago, but in retrospect (and on such a large screen) it really doesn't hold up. Noticeable filtering that erases grain and smears fine detail. Not Patton or Predator bad, but I was distracted. What was worse were mistakes made at my theatre. They used the 5.1 mix with the added sound effects, which I'm not terribly fond of but it didn't ruin the experience. What was more annoying was that they clearly didn't have it set to 1080p/24 - tons of distracting stuttering on the many pans. The sound also cut in and out a few times during the movie, mostly at the beginning. They didn't even mask the screen down to 2.39:1, which they do for all new release movies in that ratio. Also, the bonus feature played before the film, which gave away a lot of the scares for people who hadn't seen it. It wasn't a very good feature anyway. The movie's still great, but I probably would've liked it better if I had just stayed in and watched it. |

I clearly saw the 480i flash at the top of the screen before the mini-documentary began. Everything after wasn't so clear!
The sound also dropped out a couple times during the opening credits. I should've stayed home and watched my blu-ray. ![]() |

Sounds like we had similar experiences. I enjoyed seeing it on a big screen. But, it was disappointing that they used the Blu-Ray. My sound dropped out a few times near the beginning also. I also had a sort of green static like thing appear vertically on the left side of the screen throughout the movie. That was annoying. But yes, there was a lack of detail. Right near the end when Laurie and Loomis are in the room together and they pan back and forth, it was bad.
It didn't help things that I had a couple sitting a row behind me off to my right whispering for most of the movie and some tool in front (who also came in 15mins after the movie started) of me playing his damn farmville or some crap on his phone during the last 20mins of the movie. If it wasn't for me wanting to see the movie in a theater, I would have never gone to an evening show. It always seems to be when more idiots are out. I wonder if people who watch movies at conventions are more courteous of others. But I imagine the more people, the more likelihood there will still be morons. Overall, I am glad I went and saw it. But, I don't plan on going a second night like I had originally planned. |

Apologies for posting in a thread that was last posted in nearly eleven years ago, but I did a thread search in Movies for any threads specifically about the original Halloween being shown again in cinemas, and this one was the closest one I could find amongst the search results.
Earlier, when checking the Coming Soon section on Odeon's website for any new additions, to my genuine surprise (as I was beginning to think the original Halloween wouldn't be shown again in cinemas next month to celebrate it's 45th anniversary), I saw among the new additions "DMP Presents Halloween + Goblin Concert Film". However, it says "select locations" in the description on the Odeon website listing page, so it may not end up being shown in many Odeon cinemas. Just my opinion, but I'd be happy with just a screening of the original Halloween on it's own. The release date stated is Wednesday 11th October. |

I watched a REMASTERED version of Halloween (1978). I suppose the Hollywood producers think the pale washed out colors, and cool tint, will please the audience!? And look more realistic? But it is just plain downright UGLY!!! I refuse to believe John Carpenter had anything to do with it. They did it without his knowledge.
