This website has the Disney Animated version listed in its Release Calendar for Feb 5 2013. I'd say Walmart has it correct as the animated version.

The US will be getting a stand alone, Walmarts listing would have said 2 movie collection or both titles. I kind of planned on Disney doing so anyways as it was previously a diamond, I think 101 Dalmatians has escaped the fate of bundling as well.

Guys, it is confirmed for weeks now, that Aladdin WON'T be a Diamond Edition. No further discussion needed. It's the same situation, we had previously with Fantasia (2000), only that for them there WAS actually even a trailer stating them as Diamond Editions.

"Same situation"?...What, jamming "Great Mouse Detective" and "Pete's Dragon" into the schedule suddenly delayed all three titles?

(I'd love to hear what his "confirmation" is, with "no need' for further discussion--
"Well, it didn't use the words on the slip, and we haven't had a trailer yet!")

1. Look what trailer the bbfc rated on 04/11/2012. It is labeled as Diamond Edition trailer with a length of 1:16. Now look, what trailer the bbfc rated on 04/30/2011. Apparently the exact same trailer, only, that's not a Diamond Edition trailer anymore.

2. And here's the trailer:

It would be the first time, a Diamond Edition will be released, without being labeled as such in the trailer.

3. Finally, here is what Disney Germany had to say, when asked about the issue (Attachment):
Q: Disney Germany, will this be the Diamond???
A: Hello Hanabi, Aladdin isn't anymore part of the Diamond Edition line...

And of course you may believe what you want. But I'd like to remember you, that Disney Germany was the first to announce that Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 won't be Diamond Editions, as well as the non-diamond blu-ray release date of 101 Dalmatians.
I was the one, who reported these back in the day and both times, people didn't believe it at first. I say, by now I should deserve a little amount of credit.

Any title release is normally officially announced first and then as the release date draws near, then we start hearing local stores announce teh release dates and pre-orders.

Has there been ANY official news of Peter Pan's release? I checked the Disney's site and they still have it listed as not currently available. No announcement of an upcoming release. no date. Nothing.

I'm beginning to believe that the mistake on Walmart's announcement is the PRINTED information and perhaps not the cover art image.

I HOPE I'm swrong on this. But I can't find any official announcement on Peter Pan yet.

ON THE OTHER HAND....

I just found this trailer for Peter Pan on bluray in a foreign language. SO....

Maybe IF they did it in high def for them, then perhaps the US will get it after-all. But it's strange that it's getting no offical announcement yet for a US release..

Well, Disney Germany confirmed it, so that pretty much does it. No need for rudeness. Aladdin is out of the Diamond line.

WHY DISNEY WHY ARE YOU SO FRUSTRATING

If Aladdin is out, maybe Cinderella will end up being the final Diamond release.

I don't think you're listening closely - they confirmed that Aladdin was dropped.
I think Cinderella is going to end up as the final Diamond Edition. Wait a minute, they wouldn't ever think of dropping The Little Mermaid, of course

..would they?

no, they wouldn't, they just want to make sure their diamond edition is as white and culturally un-diverse as possible -___-

GOD I'm so mad WHY disney why.

Wait--
First they "confirmed" it because Germany did...
Then they're "ending" it...
And now it's a "racist conspiracy" that they're "ending it"?

...No, no, please do go on, you're on quite the roll and this is most imaginative.
What other reality do you want to create with the power of your own minds and tangentially related fan-grudges?

The DIamond Line is NOT finished. I refuse to believe that.

As far as I'm concerned Aladdin will be the next US DIamond, unless I someone can post an official annoucement that says otherwise.

There will be two diamond editions next year, and I even think there are gonna be three diamond editions!

I agree with you, but I will say it will end earlier than expected if Disney's trying to push it's content on bluray at this rate

Wow. If its true, which I'm still unsure because it is quite convincing, I would think Disney will drop the line all together, purely speculation, but why would Disney leave the line for TLM and The Jungle Book. It just doesn't make sense. What if Disney decided to drop them, and all of the Diamond edition titles left next year I doubt it though haha.

I hate it when people make up stuff on the interwebs.

Also...

Not the same Animated 1953 Peter Pan folks...

No, the Diamond Editions are not done. Moving on.

Couple of issues:

1. There's no evidence to backup his claim. We'll know what the next Diamond Edition is come October 4th. In fact, we'll probably get a list of Disney/Buena Vista films for 2013 around that time.

2. He's not from the US, so what he says about Europe releases have zip to do with to the US based Diamond Editions. Given Muslim sensitivities in Europe, perhaps Disney isn't going to give them a Diamond Edition of Aladdin as a simple way to not hype the movie. The Diamond Editions get a ton of marketing push behind them.

3. Even if he is right and Cinderella is Europes last "Diamond Edition", maybe it's because Diamond Editions flopped as a marketing tool in Europe which has a completely seperate marketing approach from the US making what happens in Holland or Germany completely irrelivant to what will be offered in the US.

I find it incredibly amusing, and unfortunate, that two people in this thread are attaching commentary (aka rumors) about a European release to a North American release of a film. What's more amusing perhaps is that Walmart screwed up their cover art leading to this entire thread of nonsense.

This is the "Blu-Ray Movies - North America" forum is it not???

Just so we can get this whole mess straight, the proof they are referring to is how Disney Germany has confirmed numerous times on there facebook page that Aladdin and Peter Pan have been dropped, and someone asked what will be the spring diamond edition than. Here is a list given by disney germany of the diamond edition titles translated using google translator:

Quote:
Disney Germany
Hi,
Diamond Edition to include currently following titles:
• Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
• Bambi
• Cinderella
• Lady and the Tramp
Sleeping Beauty •
• The Jungle Book
• The Little Mermaid
• The Beauty and the Beast
• The king of the lions

It looks like Disney will continue to have the diamond edition line. It is very possible The Jungle Book is the spring title than, unless Disney decided not to release a diamond edition next spring.
