Think the new Lawrence of Arabia blu will have a yellow wash like Raiders?

I look at this thread and say "the South Park episode Sarcastaball took a quick impact".

Well, how is something supposed to look?
If someone's got their hands on an answer print and a high-end film scanner, we might know. All I see is people comparing transfers to awful DVDs that look nothing like any film's ever looked, or just making wild assumptions based on nothing.

I understand that as well. Some movies, like 'Raiders', the tint actually makes sense to me. When I think of old serials and pulp fiction style adventures, I usually think of them with a grimy, sort of orange-ish/yellow-ish tint. I mean, the movie, on blu, is very reminisicent of this concept art for the film:

But not everyone is going to be happy with it. Some like the teal tint of the DVD. To each their own, I suppose.

I don't think the Raiders blu looks horrible. It looks very nice in some scenes. And like you mentioned, the pulp mag thing, that is true. But you can't deny that the yellow wash is new. It is an alteration.

I've already stated I have access to 35mm print of Aliens. There isn't any teal on the original release. You can even tell that by all the old books and magazines from back in 86. Tons and tons of stuff showing a paper trail of steel blue, not teal green.

Okay, let's do that... let's say they re-release Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" with a transfer that's darker and has a much heavier reddish/warm push throughout. I would bet money that half the forum would whine about how it looks different from the current blu-ray and about "contrast boosting" or whatever, because that's how it goes around here. Problem is, the current blu-ray looks nothing like the film does (despite some people's assertion that this is one of the "good" Universal blu-rays) and that transfer would be more accurate to the prints.

Sadly, that tends to be the story of home video. Don't know why everyone complains about teal when that's the least of the format's problems.

I can't discuss that film. I have absolutely no idea what it looked like on the big screen.

Contrast boosting isn't near as bad as changing the color timing to me. I can see how it would upset some, color timing issues sure piss me off.

I think all films should be cropped to 1.78 and colored teal.

I usually just turn off the color on my TV and watch everything in black and white anyway.

I'd rather have pillars, but that's just me.

I think I would go into full blown Sheldon Cooper mode. I don't think I would ever recover.

Finally! A thread dedicated to the obvious joke everyone has conceived in their own internal monologues ten times over but instantly deemed unworthy of the energy expenditure inherent to thread creation...until now! About time

Hey, It is worthy enough to make you expend energy responding to it. Mission accomplished.

I understand being annoying with something, in this case Teal.

But why complain to us? We are not the decision makers here, if you want to make a difference take your complaints to someone who can do something about it. And really if it is in fact Directors intent, then that's what they wanted and who are we to say otherwise?

And point of advice, if you want people to take you seriously, you need to take yourself seriously, and not start your case with a flamboyantly absurd notion of a teal colored Days of Heaven.
