Also don't they have to demagnetize the security thing inside anyway so it won't beep at the front. These wraps are non sense.

Another time I picked up the 300/Troy/Alexander feature with slip cover that was inside the coffin. It was in good shape until the lady had a hard time taking it out and ripped the bottom a bit and thought nothing of it and still sold it. I returned it later on though.
This happened to me yesterday when picking up Finding Nemo. I found a copy in a plastic coffin that was in mint condition, but when the lady opened the coffin and tried pulling it out by the slip, my heart dropped. Thankfully, it popped out undamaged.

They're idiots. A truly determined thief would not be deterred by spider-wraps. He can just take the product and cut the spider-wrap.

Oh, but don't you know that the packages condition doesn't affect how it plays on the movies everyone? That's basically what some snot nosed kid told me after I watched him damage a copy of Indy I wanted to buy with those GD spider wraps. Given his attitude before they pulled it from the back I got the feeling he was just being a dick about it. They also tried to give me the same damaged set when I ask for one that hadn't been damaged and to have it taken to the CSD. Like I said in the IJ Target thread, I'm in my 40's and actually come from retail management. I also use to service this particular store and it is my wife and I's favorite stores. We usually get great customer service there. Regardless, I just can't wrap my head around this type of customer service. Why they don't make cases like the games. One movie is showcased, the rest are kept behind in the case. It would take up the same amount of space.

Yeah, just like scratches and dents on a car won't affect how it drives. An extreme analogy, but still valid.

What a joke! That is obviously purposeful damage by some careless employee.

^ LOL!

I was there not too long ago picking up the Bourne steelbooks and I was surprised that they had them locked in the plastic boxes. It took a few minutes to find ones that hadn't been dented yet from the packaging. Oddly, they had a few of Bourne Supremacy with no cases on them. I guess they didn't care if people stole the second one.

Hi guys have anyone called or better yet emailed corporate or whomever and told them or better yet showed them these pics? We buy these products and we should get then undamaged. Maybe the more complaints they get the likely they'll change security policy. Might be a dream but worth a shot.

Easy solution: Stop shopping at Target. I have for the most part. If they're going to use devices that damages product, I'll just shop somewhere else. The only time I'll get anything from Target is if they have an exclusive of some type that I really want. In that case, I'll order it online and have it delivered to me. That way I'm getting something directly from the warehouse and not something actually in store.

I had to get my sister get the Rises Digibook when they opened because i had to work. I told her if they have those on there then don't get it. They didn't have them on their so she got one and sure enough on the next day they put them on.
I hardly shop there anymore. This year I got the Lebowski Digi, ET Steel, Lawrence of Arabia and this. That's it.

Other than 360 games and other misc. things I usually don't buy movies at Target. I got lucky and found a Wolverine: Origins w/slip back in the day, but most of my movies are bought at BB. Funny that they don't seem to have the same issues with thieves as others. I was at a WM recently and saw that they had actually adapted the plastic coffins. I definitely agree with the speak with your wallet. Still, I need to swing by the one I had issues at and talk to someone in management about the incident and the mangling of packages by the employees. Kind of wish I was still a merchandiser. Most of the folks I knew have moved onto other stores by now.

I have filed complaints with corporate numerous times and went to the media about it. It stopped at my local store then started right back up again. It seems that the store manager gets heat from corporate then after the heat dies down he starts the process all over again.

I also started this thread years ago:

The Target near me seems to do the same thing with new releases. On release day, new BDs are out on display with no wraps on them (like with TDKR digibooks this week). Sure enough, a few days later, everything is wrapped up tight. I wonder if it's for their convenience since they'll sell a lot on release day, and then don't care later.

Weird, but the Targets in my area NEVER have those anti-theft bungies on them. But then again, they really never have an abundance of product either.

do they really have to wrap them that tight? They could leave them a little loose if they want to put them on their. I think.

It generally comes down to demographics. All depends on your area and how much theft happens at the particular store. I have a walmart in a... not so great area, who puts every BD in a case. Now a walmart not too far away but is surrounded by... a nicer area, has everything out free and minty.

Same situation here. The high traffic WM in the 'bad' part of downtown has a lot of items locked. Theft is apparently really bad at that place. Up until a year or so ago, they used to have a greeter at the door to check all purchases and receipts on the way out. Ridiculous.. I know they do this at Sam's Club, but WM? Kmart is also in the same area and bad. Bizarre store, too. For example, I spotted both a handful of VHS tapes and a few CRT tube tvs about a year or two ago. No idea how they obtained those and stocked them. Looked like a time warp. Not sure if they're really that aloof with inventory and never remove old products, or if there's really still a market for these things in sketchy areas with desperately poor and/or frugal people.
