Not impressed with the cover myself. The release sounds fantastic though.

Judging by what Criterion is posting on their website, they believe the film's OAR was/is 1.66 to 1. (1.37 and 1.85 are being listed as "additional" aspect ratios) Seems like the big C likes 1.66 for films from this time frame such as Night of the Hunter, (1955) Kiss Me Deadly, (1955) The Killing, (1956) and Sweet Smell of Success (1957). (all presented in the 1.66 to 1 AR)

Love the cover art, this will be an impressive addition to my collection of Criterion BDs.

Heh, I was half-kidding (and I say half because I wouldn't be surprised if it is a really great release - I loved the Blow Out and Charade releases waaaaaaaaaaaay more than I would have ever expected).

Preordered now. Will cancel later if price does not go down, but it likely will to at least 28. I've never paid more than 28 for a single movie.

It seems like overkill to me too. I wish they'd just present it in one definitive aspect ratio.

Someone just tell me what one to watch. I hate making my own decisions.

I was literally about to send a letter to Criterion to ask for this title to be on Blu Ray. A few days later, it said it was being released
Criterion, if you're reading this, please put It Happened One Night and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington on BD in 2014 for their 80th and 75th Anniversaries (Though I would rather see It Happened on BD more)
