Awesome. I enjoy Clive Barker's material and this film is no exception. I'm really just looking forward to the Cabal Cut though... it always felt like an incomplete film.

I'm no die hard Clive Barker fan and I've rather lukewarm feelings about him and his films but I've always enjoyed Nightbreed.

Cool make-up effects and an overall weird movie IMO but def something I'll pick up.

I'm still in the "the cabal cut is just another urban legend" camp until I see otherwise, right along side Kill Bill: TWBA. Reading about screenings don't cut it either, I have to see it myself or it's not real! I'm hoping, but not holding my breath.

Whether or not it actually gets a blu release is debatable, however there is NO debating that the cabal cut exists since it was screened to the public a few years ago. Just because you or I haven't seen it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

True, maybe. I may be paranoid but this quote from Attic Expeditions has always stuck with me and applies here too:

"No one that you ever knew, or loved, or who loved you, or anyone who was ever anything to you that made you think that they might be as real as you are, ever proved that all six billion of the rest of us aren't all in it together against you."

Ergo, they could be lying!

True, true.

For sceptics http://badassdigest.com/2012/06/12/c...the-cabal-cut/

There's even a trailer for it

I just rewatched this on my DVD and I still love it. It's a fascinating horror film and has there been a creepier bad guy than Cronenberg's Decker? That mask!

Anyway, I'd love to have this on blu. If I remember the Rue Morgue article I read last month, they can bake the VHS tape which will ruin the tape, but they transfer it as they do this and it allows the footage to achieve DVD or near DVD quality.

Here's hoping.

That footage does look very rough, but beggars can't be choosers right? Since the possibility of film prints of the cut stuff ever surfacing is slim to none, they'll have to do. Still we can hope for better elements.

If you follow the Facebook group, they have events made for every screening, and at minimum I would say there were 10, including a very high profile screening at FrightFest

I always loved CABAL, it is one of my faves. And yes, in Italy the movie was re-titled CABAL from the start.

I doubt Warner US will bother to suddenly adopt region locking.

Would love to finally see this cut of the film on Blu-ray. BUT...having said that...I am not holding my breath that the added footage will look that great.

I never really liked Clive Barker's movies outside of Hellraiser which I adore. Still, this one was the closest to being good. Perhaps the Cabal cut will sway my opinion.

Watched the cabal cut last year at a screening .
It is very different to the current DVD release and the current footage for the cabal cut is VHS quality, but bad dodgy bootleg quality VHS at that.
I understand the curiosity about seeing the film but glad I paid only £5 to watch it and not fright fest prices.
Watching a bootleg quality VHS on a big screen was just weird.
Those that like the movie because of cronenberg being in it, his role was expanded due to the studios insistence to have more of a slasher aspect to the film, the studio did not know what to do with the film as monsters being the good guys was too hard a concept for them to market, hence the poor marketing.
If you ever get to go to the screenings they do have merchandise on sale there.
