The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. The PQ was fine and of course, I love the movie. Just there's crap for special features. There are plenty of behind the scenes and documentaries they could have put on their. Instead, nope.

I bought the Blu-ray a couple of weeks ago but haven't checked the disc - did they not port over the DVD extras? Among the many extras on that disc was a 90 minute doc. Not too crazy about the "Saw" cover but it was one of MGM'S best special editions.

I'll say Re-Animator. PQ is too dirty IMO, they could have done a better film clean-up before burning it on the disc...

Agreed. It's better than the dvd but just barely. Audio on the old M.E. dvd was also a rare full bitrate 1.5mbps DTS track and very close to the blu sound.

Seriously? That was one of the better blu's to come out this year. The picture quality and sound were near perfect. It even had a terrific array of special features. Overall, it was just a great, great release.

The Terminator anthology was disappointing. It offered nothing that the other releases had other than new packaging. It didn't even remaster the first two films which have two truly lackluster transfers. I was hoping it'd be be remastered for the anthology set but I found out the hard way. Definitely disappointing. I have yet to pick up the first two Terminator films because of the lack of a remaster in the US.

Though it's not a complete disaster, I have to cite Goldeneye when all the other OO7 titles look so much better.

It's obvious that MGM/Fox used the same master that was used for its DVD release with some added DNR and EE of course.

But again, that's based on two titles so...
I've only watched a few from it so far which are Shadow of a Doubt, Vertigo and The Trouble with Harry, all of which looked fantastic. Vertigo has some strange lighting going on so I can forgive the lack of detail in many of the scenes but The Trouble with Harry and Shadow of a Doubt both look amazing, especially The Trouble with Harry. I couldn't believe my eyes. If only they all got the same loving treatment. I've already seen Psycho and North by Northwest from that box set so I won't comment on them since they're not new transfers, although they both look terrific.

I know a lot of people liked it (loved it!), but the Fox Blu-ray of Cleopatra (1963) was very disappointing. A very processed looking picture & too cool, most of the golds in it now look silver, in fact the yellows seem to have been done away with. When I turn the colour right up on my monitor it looks just about OK.

Agreed. It's another example of a dated master that has been digitally manipulated.

Django Kill. For that matter, all the Italian westerns from Blue Underground have just been atrocious. Their release of Django is probably, next to 36th Chamber of Shaolin, the sorriest blu-ray I've ever seen. Natural grain is one thing but when the picture is so grainy that it can easily be mistaken for pixelation, it's terrible. Both movies to me look like the same quality of video that would've been on a Sega CD game years ago.
