LOL!

And CZAR, I wasn't barking nor do I have hard feelings toward you. Just letting you know some facts, like there were white slaves. I think my questions are perfectly valid. Perhaps you feel somebody should be entitled for something that didn't happen to them and somebody should be punished for something they didn't do, simply because their skin color matches. I don't.

As I said, we simply disagree and it seems on many things.

Oh its all good man. I can discuss without taking it personal. There were no insults thrown around in here so its good. Also no I dont feel that way either. Spike isnt perfect by a longshot, I just have followed Spike for a long time and I just think he is stronly opinionated and very political. He sometimes feel like he has to be the voice of black folks and can sometimes go over board but I still dont think he is a racist. Thats all. Got Em!!

Truth be told, I am willing to watch movies by any given director. Even the bad ones (I do own quite a few Uwe Boll films ). Just about everybody listed in the first few lists are directors I love.

The only ones I'd list on a least-favorites list would be:

Uwe Boll (despite all the benefit of the doubt I give him, he really does suck with the video game adaptations)
Rob Cohen (the man entertains, but his films are definitely all style no substance)
Stephen Soderbergh (I like a few of his films, disliked the rest)

Again, I think Boll is underrated. I think someone said, "Worst. Director. Ever" and a lot of people hopped on the hate train to be cool. He's made a few duds, to be sure, but a lot of his films are genuinely enjoyable.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one then . I genuinely think he's one of the worst film-makers to have ever existed and, whilst he does have occasional good spots within some of his films, on the whole everything he does is complete trash IMO. I don't take that standpoint because other people have said he sucks and I'm blindly agreeing - I've seen nearly all his films and enjoyed not one completely.

Obviously he works for some but just not for others.

Personally, I don't like az Luhrman. That's a far cry from calling him the "worst" director, or claiming his few films have led to the decline of cinema, though. I believe he's the worst, but that doesn't make it so. And no one is so influential that their movies will lead to the downfall of everything...

How come no one's mentioned Michael Bay? Isn't he the director that is coolest to hate amongst cinemaphiles?

I'm indifferent to these (see below) that you mentioned, but many others on your list are among today's best.

I left your bottom half for ya:

M. Night Shyamalan
Colin Strause
Greg Strause
McG
Brett Ratner
Uwe Boll
Tyler Perry
Rob Zombie
Len Wisemen
Eli Roth
Frank Miller
Dominic Sena
John Moore
Peter Segal

When I clicked on this, I expected a list with the likes of Roland Emerich, Uwe Boll, and for sure MICHAEL BAY. But no we get a list with Christopher Nolan, Peter Jackson, JJ Abrams and Zack Snyder. Im sorry but I think somebody is hitting that crack pipe to much. LOL!!!

I don't know how you put Cameron on a best list and Nolan on a worst list. That just seems backwards to me right there. That is some troll worthy absurdness there.

Yep--Kiddy time with the E-word.

"All-time", meaning nothing before 2000? Yyyyeah.
Howzabout a nice 80's blast from the past with Amy Heckerling (Clueless, European Vacation) who's....still directing, and another indie coming out next month!
If you can find a less naturally talented anti-director than Heckerling, I wish you success. (And those who don't know what I mean by "anti-director", rent "Johnny Dangerously", and see a reasonably witty script pulled apart to pieces with a blunt crowbar.)

Forgotten about Joel Schumacher already, have we?
Mention of Baz Luhrmann bringing up NO associations with Ken Russell?
No MST3K fanboy-parrot jokes about Ed Wood or Coleman Francis?
Too much of a Christmas Story fanboy to besmirch the holy name of Bob "Baby Geniuses" Clark?
Hands up, anyone who recognizes the name "Raja Gosnell".
(inspects list) Hmm, no Tim Burton, fancy that.

(And okay, what knee-jerk viewing put Roman Polanski on the list?
What, saw Fearless Vampire Killers but missed out on Chinatown, I'm guessing? Or just didn't like Rosemary, and banged the gavel?)

Thats all I got right now. There are more though.
Here we go again. When will wannabe nerds admit that they hate some directors cause they don't get shit about what's great about a few great movies. Just cause one doesn't understand Inception, Thin Red Line, Chinatown, Fight Club or Pan's Labyrinth doesn't mean they are'nt great!

And criticizing Peter Jackson!, wonder where his fans in this forum are.

Who cares anyway, even a guy like Traffaut went out on the first screening of Pather Panchali at Cannex cause he did'nt 'want to see peasents eating with their hands'. Later they understood each other and were lasting friends with each of their respective great films influencing each other.

Here some people act like they know even better.

And Nagysaudio, I think watching mindless crap James Cameroon movies like Avatar and Titanic truly slowed your mind.

Anyway I liked the topic here so I'll post some picks of mine, they are

James Cameroon
Lars Von Trier
Werner Rainer Fassbinder
Gasper Noe
Paul Verhoevan
Uwe Boll
Andrea Arnold
Jerzy Skolimowski
Shekhar Kapoor
