To me the cars look like they are in the same place. If you compare the difference at the top of the tower in the foreground, the difference can be seen, but the cars relative to whats around them is the same, so the timestamp must be the same.

But as suggested, it maybe down to the image being taken from the opposite camera/eye.

Yeah,

As I said we need caps from the AVC and MVC encodes off the US release, if thats possible, to compare against the AVC encode of the French release. They may have used that eye for the 2D only release, as this thread is actually for the other release which is the 3D and 2D on the same disc, French release.

Just got confirmation from Metropolitan, the french combo is a 3 disc set: 3D Blu, 2D Blu and DVD.

I can't seem to find any capture online that match my 2D Blu, they all seem to be from not the right eye of the 3D. Or maybe the french 2D version isn't just one eye but a combination?

I read on another forum someone mentioning the DVD in the Lionsgate Blu is not the exact same cut as the Blu-ray. Can anyone check out?

Thats strange. Thanks for the info HDvision, if you can get a BDinfo scan and some lossless caps taken sometime, that would be great! Btw did your review copy come with a slipcover?

Ok, thanks. The higher contrast of the US release hides detail, especially on the gun and helmet. Also the top of Dredd's helmet isn't out of the frame as it is in the US capture.

No mention of a DVD copy being included with the 2D only release. A DVD copy doesn't matter to me anyway. PAL speedup has been taken in to account looking at the runtime.

- 2D Blu or
- DVD

Thank you alas they don't match either. Definetely more vertical info on the 2D french disc thought. I wonder if we should compare with the Lionsgate DVD, as the Blu obviously is just one eye and not a real "flat" version.

I don't know either, was just under the search results for Dredd on the comparison site. There is a slight difference in contrast too.

If thats the 3D vs 2D images of the US release, the French 2D only release has the contrast of the 2D but framing of the 3D image. Or is it the US release vs the Norwegian/Scandinavian 2D only release?

Apparently from online caps, the Lionsgate DVD seems close in colors to the French 2D Blu-ray. It would meant definitely that the US 3D Blu was tweaked with contrast and colors boosting.
