2013 is an exciting year for film! My top 12, give or take:

1 Elysium
2 Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
3 Machete Kills
4 The Last Stand
5 Only God Forgives
6 Riddick
7 Kick Ass 2
8 300: Battle of Artemisia
9 Mad Max Fury Road
10 The Counselor
11 The Hobbit: There and Back Again
12 Gangster Squad

300 and Kick Ass 2 would be higher but for the chosen directors and I just hope Mad Max is R-rated.

Also looking forward to other films such as Twelve Years A Slave, The Iceman, Bullet to the Head, Star Trek 2 etc. I'd be *very* excited for The Wolverine...if it is R-rated. Don't care about another PG-13 Wolverine movie.

And of course, fingers crossed for some strong foreign films. It's about time China made good on the big budgets they've started throwing around.

I'm pretty sure Mad Max: Fury Road won't be out until 2014.

I love long films. My 4 favorite films of the last at least 2 hrs and 45 mins each. I HATE seeing short movies in theaters. Hate giving them my money when they usually disappoint me.
I will just make my case for long movies by listing my 4 favorite films of the year (Django, Hobbit, Cloud Atlas, Dark KNight rises) and listing the worst films of the year (underworld 4, Res. Evil 5. Chernobyl Diaries, MIB III) .
I just like a movie to have substance and particularly an ACTION movie with a large budget should NEVER EVER EVER be under 2 hours long. Not saying that there arent good ones under 2 hrs but the Best (and most impressive and fulfilling) will be the lengthy ones.

Upstream Color (Shane Carruth)

Byzantium (Neil Jordan)
Snowpiercer (Joon-ho Bong)
The World's End (The World's End)
At Any Price (Ramin Bahrani)
Foxcatcher (Bennett Miller)
Inside Llewyn Davis (The Coen Brothers)
The Sacrament (Ti West)
Stoker (Chan-wook Park)
Her (Spike Jonze)
The Grandmaster (Wong Kar Wai)

I know a couple of them technically had festival releases in 2012, but I'm still looking forward to them next year.

As far as big blockbuster stuff, most of the trailers I've seen so far have been pretty awful. I'm most stoked for the Marvel line-up: Iron Man 3, The Wolverine and Thor: The Dark World. Also curious about Branagh's Jack Ryan.
Awesome list! I didnt jot these down because I deferred to the Wiki Page.

In order of anticipation:
  1. Star Trek Into Darkness
  2. Man of Steel
  3. Iron Man 3
  4. Thor: The Dark World
  5. Monsters University
  6. Kick-Ass 2
  7. Anchorman: The Legend Continues
  8. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
  9. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
  10. The Great Gatsby
  11. The Wolverine
  12. G.I. Joe: Retaliation

While the final two may be a bit controversial, I'm excited to see Hugh Jackman back in the role of Wolverine regardless of the quality of his first solo film, and I'm excited to see if they set up Days of Future Past. As for G.I. Joe, I sometimes just want a dumb action film and the trailer made it look like exactly what I wanted.
