that scene effects me every time I see it (and it's been a lot of times!)

Additions for me are the death scenes of major characters in both MY GIRL and BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA.

Also the reunion of Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning at the end of MAN ON FIRE makes me fight back tears....

Bloodsport where Ray Jackson gets curb stomped by Chong Li and Frank loses it. Then when Frank destroys Cheating Chong Li and gets the headband back.

Inception ending scene. The top made me get mad!

Dark Knight Rises, where Batman reveals his identity to Jim Gordon and sacrifices himself one last time for Gotham to fly the atom bomb out to sea. Then the final sequence where they're giving Bruce his eulogy at Wayne Manor and city giving one to Batman.

Gladiator, where Maximus is seeing visions of the afterlife while trying to fight Commodus. And the events after that. "Who will help me carry him?". Proximo's death was also noteworthy.

Godfather III where Michael is confessing his sins to Cardinal Lamberto.

Remember the Titans - When Julius visits Gerry in the hospital and Gerry says to the nurse "Are you blind? Don't you see, that's my brother".

X: Days of Future Past - Where the present time team starts dropping like flies left and right. First Storm, then Bishop, etc. then Magneto and Xavier shaking hands one last time.
I can list more and more but can't think right now.

The end of Star Trek VI when Sulu tells Kirk it was nice to him action one more time, the whole cast interplay leading up to Kirk delivering his final log entry and the cast signing off before the end credits. It was like saying farewell to old friends.

1. Guardians of The Galaxy: The Gamora space rescue scene gets me every time. The cinematography, special effects, and score are perfect and everything just works perfectly. Probably one of the most memorable scenes in recent memory.
2. The Conjuring: The scene where they try and get the possessed mom out of the house and she gets forced back into the house into the basement along with the final exorcism and fight for her soul always give me strong goosebumps.
3. Before Sunset: Jesse and Celine's car confessional.
4. Before Midnight: The hotel argument breaks my heart.
5. Like Crazy: This
6. Best Of The Best: The ending transfer of medals and villain asking for forgiveness. They don't make martial arts films like this anymore.
7. Belle: Carriage love confessional.
8. Man of Steel: The flight scene was so inspirational....wish this universe had more scenes like this.

  • Interstellar: ending with Cooper and Murph on her deathbed.
  • 500 Days of Summer: climactic scene with Tom and Summer at the bench in the park.
  • X2: X-Men United: Wolverine and Scott breaking up over Jean's death.
  • Requiem for a Dream: Jared Leto breaking up in tears in the taxi after leaving his mother's apt and Ellen Burstyn's dream sequence ending.
  • The Fountain: pretty much the whole movie lol.

The ending of Nankyoku Monogatari (a.k.a Antarctica) where the scientists discover the two surviving sled dogs, and one barks in response. This got a cheer from the audience I saw it with in China many years ago and it's never failed to choke me up since.

I'm seeing some of the usual suspects here, so I'll try and be a bit different. Also I'm spoiler tagging, because most of these are spoilers by default...

- Sinister
[Show spoiler]The 'Family Barbecue' video was one of the most unnerving, unsettling things I've witnessed...and I've seen a lot of horror. The score alone creeped me out.

- Three Colours: Blue
[Show spoiler]Julie runs her knuckles across the stone wall as she walks.

- Most recently I, Daniel Blake
[Show spoiler]the scene in the food bank where Katie is so hungry that she steals a can of beans and starts eating it cold. The shame of it and the desperation she's clearly feeling pretty much broke me.

Yeah that was a beautiful scene. Followed by the good doctor saying "My god that's a big ship, followed by Scotty's Not as big as her captain.." The music was well written for that scene as well.

Speaking of Trek....

Yep Data's self sacrifice at the end of Nemesis. That scene just made me quite for hours and yes tears did drop.

The top scene didn't have that much of an emotional response. I do recall some people did gasp out loud at the end.

Yes that scene and his Eulogy by Gordon. Everyone clapped when they saw Bruce and Selena still alive and even clapped harder when they say Blake discovering the Batcave at the end...

As a collector of soundtracks for movies most of these scenes become more emotionally powerful with the right music. I am glad these musicians know how to hit it correctly so it effects us emotionally.

Wolverine crying like that just wasn't for me. I feel like he's the type to either shed a single tear or let out a powerful moan or growl when faced with sorrow.

I think that's what made it all the more powerful. To see him "out of character" and display more emotion than he ever would really showed us how much her death hit him.
