Is either the French or the upcoming UK release gonna be region A friendly? I do own a region free player but I really don't want to buy a locked disc and then have it come out in the States in the near future.

If no one else confirms it, I should have my copy on Friday or Saturday and will check it out for you.

I didn't know that the French version was by Kaze as well, it's probably the exact same disc as the upcoming UK version. Ordered.

Plus the French version comes, with what appears to be, a nice slipcover.
I went with the UK version, as it was a bit cheaper(at least now) for US importing.

Is the French version going to be English-friendly?

Arrived today. Completely English friendly and completely locked to Region B.

Not a huge surprise it being region locked. It seems to be a requirement for most Anime releases to be locked in the UK/EU. I'm sure it's part of the deal with the Japanese licensors that they be region locked to try and put off importers from Region A countries.

Yeah, primarily Japan, where this movie has not been released yet on Blu-ray. The region lock is also probably why the UK can get the Ghibli releases so much earlier than America.

The film is on BD in the US but only as part of the SF Anniversary Collection. Not sure what the disc specs are though I don't know anyone who has it.

The disc is total crap, but the set is gorgeous. I was very bummed to hear about the disc being such a poor attempt at an upgrade, but this disc should make my set compete!

Hmmmm, the video might be uncensored here, but the English audio track is censored, with all the naughty language replaced.

"Bison! I'm gonna rip your lousy heart out, you creep!"

ffs...

Now now, that film was never meant to be a serious action film and all the cheesey humour was intended!

Oh, balls. They must've used the PG-13 audio track. We can have Chun Li's titties but not Deejay's cursing. Seems like this movie's got some kinda home video hex on it.

Ugh. The English track is missing more than just the cursing: my favourite line in the whole show is gone! Vega's deliciously pervy "sweet!" when he licks Chun Li's blood off his claw is absent, and the music is very choppy throughout that whole fight sequence, probably because it's been edited around the missing dialogue.

Me no wantee. This is getting sold ASAP.

I wonder if the UK version will be censored as well. If video is intact and audio censored, I'll probably combine DVD audio from my 2DVD set with video from BD.

It's a port of the French disc so yes.

Does it mean it's exact same disc, just repackaged for UK?

And one question for those who bought french edition - is there japanese track with original soundtrack available?

I thought they'd confirmed it was the original?
