Really cool to see how quickly this is picking up steam. I loved the first two seasons (never finished the third, guess I should now it looks like the film is on the way) so I threw in $10. Every little helps and all that.

Maybe Rob Thomas could use any leftover funds to finance the oft-rumoured Party Down film?

I think if Supernatural wanted to make a theatrical film, they could get a couple mill easily as well with kickstarter. I know that show has an obsessed, loyal fan base.

Not that it ever had a chance of happening, but what happens when they don't reach their goal? Do they keep the money.

Actually, VM had a pretty stable viewership throughout all three seasons: about 2.5 million viewers. That's better than a lot of CW shows get now (didn't the CW cancel like half their shows this season?).

If the goal is not reached, the project is a bust. Credit cards are charged after the kickstarter ends and only if they meet their goal.

With as fast as this is making money, think they'll add stretch goals?

$1.1m now pledged on the first day - incredible. This is all but a certainty. Be very interesting to see how high it gets. And I enjoyed Rob Thomas' speculation on what they would do with the extra funds -

Keep in mind that the more money we raise, the cooler movie we can make. A two million dollar fundraising total probably means cross words are exchanged at the class reunion. Three million? We can afford a full-on brawl. Ten million? Who knows... For some reason the Neptune High class reunion takes place on a nuclear submarine! A Hobbit shows up! There’s a Bollywood end-credit dance number! I’ve always wanted to direct Bill Murray. We’ll figure out something cool. Hey, if that total goes high enough, I’ll bet the good folks at Warner Bros. will agree a sequel is a good idea.

Gossip Girl fell to 660,000 viewers one time. 90210 fell to 550,000 viewers. I'm not sure if 90210's low ratings are a record or not.

Their new show, The Carrie Diaries, is already struggling in the ratings. The premiere only got 1.61 million viewers and every episode since hasn't been able to top that. One episode even dropped as low as 1 million.

Veronica Mars' third season ratings pretty much left these shows in the dust.

I definitely hope that if they really raise enough that the studio would be willing to make this a series of films...they don't have to be super high budget, and they'd almost certainly make their money back. I really love seeing this thing just keep sky rocketing quickly to the $2 million mark.

I thought her small screen time in 'Safety Not Guaranteed' was done well, and I loved her in 'Fanboys', but they didn't really fully utilize her range. This will give her a chance.

NO!

I love Bell, and always thought she'd be the next big romantic comedy star (if not just movie star in general), but she's made some awful choices... just horrible.

OMG! Me too! I've been selling my stuff, including most of my movies and TV seasons as I'm planning on moving to NY and just can't bring everything. But I'm donating $100. I can't really afford it, but I desperately want this. And it's not like you aren't getting a bunch of goodies for doing so anyway.

It sucks that this will be in limited released followed by VOD. I wish they'd release it to at least 1,000 theatres. I'd see it at least 4 times.
Me too! OPENING DAY! I'd just stay at the theater the whole day.

Kevin Smith tweeted about it:

Producer pal @danetheridge is gonna make the VERONICA MARS movie! Wanna help get it Kickstarted? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...-movie-project

Colin Hanks says:

I will not be suprised if the #VeronicaMarsMovie reaches its goal in the first day

Sophia Bush:

Um. The #marsfans of the world need this!

Meryl Streep:

J/K! :P But how cool would that be?

Bell tweeted that they're trying to open this up to international fans as well. So who knows? Keep an eye out.
