Drive:

1. Some people find it an Arthouse masterpiece that delivers both exciting action and beautiful visuals with a killer soundtrack.

2. And then people say it's over-rated.

I completely agree with The Tree of Life.

I'm about to blow some people's minds here.

Star Trek (2009) was okay.
Drive was decent.

I haven't seen Sucker Punch, Tree of Life, Blair Witch Project, Avatar, etc. Just don't seem interesting to me.

Most of Malick's work.

I think a lot of Fincher's films are all glossy, ugly style and no substance, and have the intelligence of an Uwe Boll film (okay, maybe that's pushing it); The Game and Panic Room, in particular, are just mind-numbingly dumb.

I'd agree about early Fincher (except for Seven) but I mean come on Social Network and Zodiac are legitimately great films.

I think that's another title many were just indifferent about. Reaction ranged from "meh" to "okay" with few on the extreme sides.

The Passion of the Christ. The reactions it inspires are all over the place. Some people hail it as a bold masterpiece, others feel it's little more than torture porn. Some people found it too disturbing to ever see again while others were bored and desensitized by it. The IMDb board for that film was one of the ugliest I've ever witnessed. I haven't dared to check it out recently.

Those two deserve the acclaim, I agree. I like Se7en, though my enjoyment diminishes with each viewing. Everything else, however..

I really hated Bad Lieutenant. I didn't take anything away from it and watching it was tortuous. I would probably chose torture over watching that film again. However, a lot of people like it for God only knows why.

The relationship between The Bad Lieutenant and the Nun. Kietel's character is baffled as to how this woman can forgive and therein lies it's greatness. The film is deranged, sure, but nonetheless a fully realized artistic statement.

Edit: I think ebert sums up the virtues best in his review:
