As far as a fight goes I'd say Captain America. However, aesthetically I've been drawn to both. I've seen some awesome versions of Batman and Captain America. I had a cool poster of Captain America as a kid in the 90s and also Capcom had an awesome version of him in the their fighting games. However, Batman is more familiar to me and just has a more serious tone to him that I enjoy. I own two of the Batman games for XBox 360 but I have yet to play them. However, from what I've seen Batman looks better than ever.

Wow, the votes for Batman are more overwhelming that I thought they'd be. Not sure if that's fanboyism or not. It was actually a hard decision for me, but I ultimately went with Captain America based on the fact he has actual military training and experience. Not to mention he's honed his abilities to actually throw his shield and take out multiple targets if need be.

Captain America has been seen bench pressing 1,100 lbs and is capable of running a mile in just over a minute.

Batman can disappear any attacks from Cap anywhere at any time with any gadget. You could argue Cap can react fast enough to counter it due to his Enhanced capabilities. But Batman knows how to approach a physically superior opponent. He's a master strategist...he'll take Cap down.

Cap is the best battlefield leader, which is why he is usually in command of operations for the Avengers. But Batman has infinitely more experience in one-on-one duels, he's been challenged by practically every psychopath on the planet looking to make a name for themselves in fighting.

From Wikipedia on Batman,
Batman has no inherent superhuman powers. To compensate for this, he relies on "his own scientific knowledge, detective skills, and athletic prowess."[28] In the stories, Batman is regarded as one of the world's greatest detectives, if not the world's greatest crime solver.[120] In Grant Morrison's first storyline in JLA, Superman describes Batman as "the most dangerous man on Earth," able to defeat a team of superpowered aliens by himself in order to rescue his imprisoned teammates. He has spent a significant portion of his life traveling the world and acquiring the skills needed to aid in his crusade against crime. His knowledge and expertise in almost every discipline known to man is nearly unparalleled by any other character in the DC Universe.[121] He is also a master of disguise, often gathering information under the identity of Matches Malone, a notorious gangster. Additionally, the Batman has been repeatedly described as one of the greatest martial artists in the DC Universe; his skills in hand-to-hand combat are said to rival such notable martial artists as Lady Shiva, Bronze Tiger, and Richard Dragon. His batsuit also aids in his combat against enemies, having the properties of both Kevlar and Nomex. It protects him from gunfire and other significant impacts. However, Batman's most defining characteristic is his strong commitment to justice and his unwillingness to take life, regardless of the situation he has faced. This unyielding moral rectitude has earned him the respect of several heroes in the DC Universe, most notably that of Superman and Wonder Woman. Also from Wikipedia on Captain America, Captain America has no superhuman powers, although as a result of the Super-Soldier Serum and "Vita-Ray" treatment, he is transformed from a frail young man into a "perfect" specimen of human development and conditioning.[87] Captain America's strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, durability, and healing are at the zenith of natural human potential. Rogers' body regularly replenishes the super-soldier serum; it does not wear off.[88] The formula enhances all of his metabolic functions and prevents the build-up of fatigue poisons in his muscles, giving him endurance far in excess of an ordinary human being. This accounts for many of his extraordinary feats, including bench pressing 1200 pounds (545 kg) and running a mile (1.6 km) in 73 seconds (49 mph/78 kph).[89] Furthermore, his enhancements are the reason why he was able to survive being frozen in suspended animation for decades. Rogers cannot become intoxicated by drugs, including alcohol, or by impurities in the air and is immune to terrestrial diseases.[citation needed] He is also highly resistant to hypnosis or gases that could limit his focus.[90] The secrets of creating a super-soldier were lost with the death of its creator, Dr. Abraham Erskine.[91] However, in the ensuing decades there have been numerous secret attempts to recreate Erskine's treatment, only to have them end in failure. Even worse, the attempts have instead often created psychopathic supervillains of which Captain America's 1950s imitator and Nuke are the most notorious examples. Rogers' battle experience and training make him an expert tactician and an excellent field commander, with his teammates frequently deferring to his orders in battle. Thor has stated that Rogers is one of the very few humans he will take orders from and follow "through the gates of Hades".[92] Rogers' reflexes and senses are also extraordinarily keen. He has blended judo, western boxing, kickboxing, and gymnastics into his own unique fighting style and is a master of multiple martial arts. Years of practice with his near-indestructible shield make him able to aim and throw it with almost unerring accuracy. His skill with his shield is such that he can attack multiple targets in succession with a single throw or even cause a boomerang-like return from a throw to attack an enemy from behind. In canon, he is regarded by other skilled fighters as one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel Universe, limited only by his human physique.[93][94] Although the super-soldier serum is an important part of his strength, Rogers has shown himself still sufficiently capable against stronger opponents, even when the serum has been deactivated reverting him to his pre-Captain America physique.[95] Rogers has vast U.S. military knowledge and is often shown to be familiar with ongoing, classified Defense Department operations. He is an expert in combat strategy, survival, acrobatics, military strategy, piloting, and demolitions. Despite his high profile as one of the world's most popular and recognizable superheroes, Rogers also has a broad understanding of the espionage community, largely through his ongoing relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. He is a talented artist, and has worked on the Captain America comic book published in the Marvel universe. Other career fields include commercial arts, teaching high school history, and law enforcement. Although he lacks superhuman strength, Captain America is one of the few mortal beings who has been deemed worthy enough to wield Thor's hammer Mjolnir.[96] |

The best source for comic book information is from the Marvel Wiki, which is distinct from the general Wikipedia. Here is the link to Cap's entry in the Marvel Wiki, which goes into extreme depth on his abilities.
http://marvel.wikia.com/Captain_Amer...even_Rogers%29 Though I haven't read it in a few years, the Marvel Universe Handbooks from the 80's would give definitive strength levels for each character. I am almost positive in those guides that Cap was listed as being able to lift one ton (2000 pounds), which is obviously beyond human capability. |
