As MonkeySpoons had said above, Batman has been around the block. This movie represents the campiest and silliest years of Batman. Remember the Rainbow suits? You probably don't. A "Batman fan" That just embraces the dark, brooding style doesn't get the character on every level in my eyes. You like what you like, but saying things like "I'm a huge batman fan, so I'm not going to get it" just doesn't make sense ![]() I love Batman more than anything and I still think The nolan trilogy is way off the mark too,(perhaps even more so than B&R, its debatable) but I still love those those movies to death, and will buy the steel books. My favorite films of all time are TDKR(because i have a personal connection with it), with 89 very close behind it. I enjoy B&R more than Returns, but find forever kind of lost in what it was suppose to be. at least B&R embraced the camp, and did so perfectly. Its quite a beautiful movie, and has some great SFX for the time. The set and suit design are some of the craziest and best I've seen in a comic book movie. Yes I hate the nipples with a passion too, but at least there is a REASON behind them. Just imagine those suits(sans nipples) and set designs used in a more gothic, serious batman film, it would had been magnificent. Thats more along the lines of The best interpretation(imo) of Batman so far, defiantly the Arkham games. If something like that does come to theaters in the near future, i will be a happy hardcore bat-fan. Theres a few things that need to be adjusted, mainly Bane, but it works, and is a great blend of Batman mythology. The sidekicks are there, the color and fantasy is there, but also the serious tone. Anyways, I can go on for days, but I guess what Ive learned is that if your just a huge batman fan, you avoid B&R. But if your a true Batman fan, well by all means this is an amazing buy. |

I grew up loving the Adam West Batman show, I watch Batman Brave and the Bold with my daughter (she's a huge fan, has the whole show on DVD). There are tons of different shades of Batman. This one in particular was so damaging to the character, it took only some of the best comic movies ever mad to save Batman at the theater. So no, I don't have to support WB treatment of the character by giving them my money for this release. |

After seeing the movie I didnt think it was all that great. A 6/10 at best (and even that is higher than its average rating). Again it seemed to be ashamed of its comic roots. It was pretty humourless. Lois Lane was nothing like the comics. She is meant to be a plucky reporter who gets herself into trouble, miss spells her words and doesnt know Superman is Clark Kent. There was no Jimmy Olsen either.
But the worst mistake was the complete disregard for human life. The end of the film was just Kryptonians punching each other through buildings for 40 minutes. The collateral damage must have cost millions of lives and Superman didnt attempt to save anyone. Like the Last 2 Dark Knight films, the focus was purely on epic set peices and not characters. Man of steel could have done with less action more humour and better character development. Superman 2 was a better film by far. |

My shrine disagrees with you.
![]() I genuinely think Batman & Robin is a good film. It's not my ideal representation of the character and the Batman universe, but it doesn't really stray that far from the source material. Batman has been interpreted in so many different ways over the years so Schumacher's version is just as valid. It's just a fun film that looks and sounds great. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I get more enjoyment out of the film than I do The Dark Knight. Oh, and I couldn't care less about the nipples. I also think it's hypocritical when guys pull the 'Batgirl's suit should have had nipples' card. |
