Warner wouldn't agree to pay for it themselves and when Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell ofered to fully pay for it as lone producers WB still said no as they didn't want to market/release it as they felt there was NO audience for it, that fans were not that interested in a movie.

So they finally found a way to get WB to agree to let the movie happen, but only if the Kickstarter project worked. And it did. And I not only go to help the movie be made, I got an awesome t-shirt, updates on the movie, and pre-order's in place for the Blu-ray combo pack, the theatrical poster, and the digital download on the same day it gets a limited theatrical release. I don't think this sounds unreasonable considering it guaranteed that this film actually get made and be supported by WB.

I gladly THANK Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell for looking for a way to get this made.
That's exactly why I donated $100 as well.

Again, WB genuinely believed there was no audience. Despite critical raves (during the first two seasons, anyway), it was consistently one of the lowest rated shows on UPN and The CW. On top of that, unlike other cult shows, the season DVDs didn't sell well (which is why I don't see a Blu-Ray release in the cards for the show, as much as I would love one). That's why I give this Kickstarter a pass, compared to Zach Braff's or Spike Lee's attempts, anyway.

Anyway, I was against the whole existence of this project (as I feel Thomas and Bell abused Kickstarter and shouldn't have needed to ask delusional fans for money) but I will watch for the sole reason that Krysten Ritter is in it. Her mere presence can improve anything (except for What Happens in Vegas, which had her, Treat Williams and Queen Latifah in it and still sucked).
I donated $250. I got two t-shirts, a copy of the script in PDF, a BD/DVD/Digital Download and a full-sized movie poster signed by the cast comin' my way. Well worth the money considering it ALSO went to getting the movie produced. I don't feel like I wasted even a penny.

You count to 10 differently than I do.

And they've already announced that it will go wider than this if the first week is successful.

All of the advance screenings on March 13 sold out within hours, so AMC added more of them. It seems like the demand will be there, at least in the first weekend.

I'm sure I read in one of the backer updates, downloads would be available at the same time as the theatrical release....

Quoted from the most recent Kickstarter update from Rob Thomas:

"Digital downloads will be available for all backers within a few days of the theatrical release, just like we've planned since the beginning. We'll have more details to share in the next few weeks, once the final arrangements are made, but I think you'll be satisfied."

Hell of a pre-order price. I want to support the film in theaters, but damn that price is tempting to wait for the BD.

(I was going to go with the more specific "Who the hell remembers UPN? " joke and ask when we were going to get the Deadly Games movie, but I figured more people would remember the FoD ref.)
Thanks for sharing that, I have no idea how i miseed that last year.
Sooo awesome
Darkwing (along with DuckTales) was my favorite of the Disney Afternoon line up.
Would actually really love to see a real Darkwing Duck movie, but only if Jim is back.

That's my main fear about the upcoming RR cgi/live action film, is that instead of using Jim, Tress, Corey and the rest they are just going to recast the voices with "STARS" Thanks again for sharing that awesome video.

Don't be so sure of that those fan films are quite popular, heck even tom hanks has admited to being a fan of both of the highest profile Trek fan productions.

With new baby in house it's going to be next to impossible to get to the theatre to support the movie...for that price, it's a no brainer...can't wait!

I just ordered mine despite the fact I'm getting a free copy from Kickstarter.

You see because I live in Australia they are only allowed to send me an an Australian copy of the Blu-ray despite the fact I buy all my Blu-rays from Amazon. So Veronica Mars would be the only Australian region Blu-ray I own and I'd have to wait for the delayed release. I plan on seeing the movie in a cinema as well and from what I have seen of the movie it does seem to capture the essence of the series.

Do both. I'm getting a digital copy of the film but that's not stopping me from driving 2 hours to support the film. Likely two times in one weekend. I likely won't even touch the digital.

So are they not releasing it as a combo pack now? That's what had been advertised for the longest time and Warner Bros always does combo packs.
