The PG rated edition does nt ot cantain any boobies. there is a breif shot of Adele rising from the backside but with the camera placement and long hair you do not see much bum-wise.

Would definitely be interested in a Directors cut..

Very fun movie though.

If the directors cut really is just the same version that was already released everywhere else, then that is a complete joke!

America's cultural sophistication knows no bounds!

I was really looking forward to some kind of new cut, too.

I don't think it's really fair on you guys. Fair enough you've had the PG theatrical cut on BD last week but to release the international version a few months later (if it's your director's cut) with staggered a release stinks.

Well, if the only difference between the two cuts is a brief shot of pointless nudity, I should have kept my theatrical preorder, so my niece and nephew can watch it too, since Besson set out to make a kids film. Thanks to Shout Factory for leaving everyone in the dark.

Very poor, and Id say unprofessional move by Shout. They obviously knew a Director's Cut was in the works, yet they essentially misled people into thinking the theatrical (more like censored version) would be their only release. Having 2 releases of the same movie within a few months of one another is really greedy, especially when the difference between them is so miniscule. The DC and Censored cut should have been in the same release from the start, period. I praise Shout a lot, but this just seems wrong. I hope they offer some sort of exchange program for those that want the DC rather than theatrical.

Grr...really, Shout?! Lame, lame move. Just received my disc from Family Video, but I will send back...is there a listing of the extras on the director's cut disc? I couldn't easily find it...will it have the same? (or more, maybe?) I don't want to return this one and then find out the director's cut version is deficient in some other way.

Nobody in the know is talking. That's part of the problem.

Though, as Mifune pointed out, there doesn't appear to be any legitimate reason why both cuts weren't included on the same release. I remember when BD launched, before actually, Sony liked to imply one of the advantages of BD's disc capacity would be the ability to offer more family friendly options, TV cuts, etc on the same disc - via branching. Yet, few to none have. Sony used in picture subtitles to help sell the format. Now that the war is over, and far more people have constant height screens, they've completely abandoned that market, even though an extra subtitle track would take virtually no disc space and be extremely easy to implement.

I often wonder what it's like to work in an industry where you don't have to be good at your job, or can get by with an effort that appears that you don't really care.

I think the reason for the 2 releases is that if parents bought a BD of a PG film they'd seen with their kids and it had nudity in it (with the directors cut) then they'd go apeshit. Who knows what damage the image of a girl in the bath could do to undeveloped minds?

I'm surprised there isn't a big disclaimer on the new release: NOW WITH ADDED NIPPLES!

That seems like the obvious reason, though it's always possible that the only reason a dc is even coming is because Besson or someone protested the censorship. It still doesn't explain why they didn't put both cuts on the initial release, with the PG rating set as the default viewing option, unless the theatrical disc had already been put in the pipe before the DC ever got green lighted. It was still rather foolish of Besson to create a "childrens" film with nudity, knowing it wouldn't fly in many major markets.

I just cannot imagine that their is a huge market for this as something children are lining up to see here in America anyways. they had one copy of it at my local video store and i have not seen in at any big B&M stores.
This country really needs to get over the Puritanical view of the human body and sex.

No matter what, there's no good reason to have two separate releases for this film.

If a brief boob shot is the only major difference between both versions, and such a difference is not integral to the story (like, say, the US and international version of Luc Besson's own Le Grande Bleu), then the Director's Cut isn't really worth waiting.

Aside from the issue of removed nudity, this review makes it sound as though the only option is a dubbed English track, and the amazon page just says "Language: English" (and worryingly it says the same thing on the "Director's Cut" page!)--does anyone have this blu to check whether the original French track is available? I may just have to import the eOne blu ray from amazon.ca...

This site has reviews if you weren't aware.

Of course I'm aware, it just didn't occur to me to check--you could have just pointed out that the blu-ray.com review mentions a French track, no need to be patronizing about it.

So I guess the only difference really is brief nudity?

After reading that, I'll just end up getting the theatrical version that's already out since it's cheaper.
