Damn! I can only imagine what kind of treatment The Beyond will get. Pieces was one of my first dvd's, the Diamond Entertainment dvd was given to me as a gift along with a few others (Mutant, Messiah of Evil/The Devil's Nightmare, and perhaps one more).

I too am excited to see what they do with The Beyond. The UK release is just "okay" overall really. The audio is quite great, the special features are excellent but the picture is too clean. Undeniably better than it's looked before, but can look better and Grindhouse Releasing will hopefully deliver.

Not only is it terrific to see Grindhouse Releasing pressing on in lieu of Sage's passing but their debut Blu-ray title looks like it's going to be a whacked out fun time! Overjoyed to support their entry to the format and here's hoping for plenty more output from them in the upcoming months ahead.

Looking forward to Corruption, this spin on Eyes Without A Face has been particularly difficult to see having been unshown on British TV for decades and difficult to find a decent copy of on DVD. Grindhouse are delivering a very impressive looking list of extras as well as the uncut version of the film. Hope their effort is rewarded with good sales

Hi,
I too am glad that Grindhouse Releasing are back, after the sad loss of Sage Stallone. I'm looking forward to THE BEYOND and their CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST Blu-Ray releases more than anything else. Their DVD versions were great, so their Blu-Ray's should be truly beautiful, especially if they do special-edition packaging, like with CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST! ![]() Pooch |

I ordered Hippie In Israel from Diabolik to get the best price. They might start shipping by the end of the week. Cannibal Ferox is my next most-anticipated Grindhouse title since the DVD wasn't even anamorphic. Very glad they're back in business.

Isn't the grungy look part of the appeal of grindhouse films? Why would you want a pristine high-definition version of Cannibal Holocaust? These films are best experienced on worn VHS tapes or battered film prints. Every film does not need to be on Blu-ray.

Personally, I want to experience movies in the best possible way, the way it would have been watching a new print on the very first day the movie opened. Within the last couple of years, I have watched great-looking fresh 35mm prints of both Cannibal Holocaust and The Beyond, and in both cases the experience was amazing. Mind you, I have nothing against watching genuine, old beaten-up prints at my local grindhouse. And if such a print is the only available material for a transfer to digital (as is sometimes the case with the movies that Code Red releases), then so be it. But I don't subscribe to that weird nostalgia for bad VHS resolution or scratches just for the "ambience" of it. |

By this line of thought we shouldn't even want Lucio Fulci's THE BEYOND in its uncut state with its original soundtrack - we should instead be clamouring for the edited 7 DOORS OF DEATH prints. ![]() |
