meh, wasn't at all impressed. and for it to be in Wonderland, it didn't have any kind of wonder at all.. and the CGI is even worse than how it can be on OUAT in general. this was originally supposed to air as a miniseries while the original was on hiatus during the winter, wasn't it? that would've been much better.

Really enjoyed the first episode. I'm glad they hit the ground running with the magical elements.
I enjoyed the first season of OUAT's build-up. But glad they didn't do the same thing here. Since it's Wonderland I am glad they didn't hold back on going wild with the wonder of Wonderland. |

This ep was stuffed with exposition and distracting cgi. I'll give it one more go to see if it smooths things over, but I'm not overly hopeful. |

I don't see how the cgi was so distracting for everyone?...It's the same cgi/wonderland we saw/see in the once upon a time series?..it's been this way since the intro of the show..unless everyone's just seeing something different?

I have to agree. I didn't notice anything overly poor. The only thing I thought looked a bit cheesy (as others have mentioned) was the very last scene.

I find the Red Queen's lips to be very distracting and not in a good way. Her acting was pretty bland too.
Thought the girl playing Alice did a good job, but the love story with the genie had no chemistry. I'm guessing they'll set up a love triangle with the Knave anyways. |

For some reason, I watched the first episode of this. I don't watch much network TV these days but I left my TV on from Jeopardy and didn't bother to change it.
![]() Thought it was okay. The reliance on really bad CGI is amusing. Thought the girl playing Alice did a good job though the show itself seemed to take itself too seriously. |

As for the White Rabbit, yeah, they put everything it seems into making him look better while everything else around him suffered as a result. Also, why was the White Rabbit, gray? ![]() As for the love story, I felt the story would have been so much interesting without it, they could have made it where Wonderland was threatened and they needed her help or something. Also, I don't see the chemistry between Alice and The Genie either. Last edited by TheAnimeLegend; 10-13-2013 at 04:04 AM. |

![]() If there is one bit of Disney cultural dictatorship I would like to see expunged from our popular culture (well, besides people who think Beauty & the Beast was the "real" story, that is), it's the sad remaining Tim Burton victims who think it was one queen under two names, or even ONE name. (For the record, the Red Queen--who was a chess piece, not a card--in Looking Glass, was, in fact, rather friendly to Alice, in her own....bossy way. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/12/12...m#link2HCH0002 And before 2010, it was the Queen of Hearts--in Wonderland, an entirely different country--who had the decapitating obsession. Much of Tim Burton's confusion dates back to the movie originally being Wes Craven's script for the American McGee videogame movie, which made the confusion first in the original game. But I'd rather blame Burton. ![]() Last edited by EricJ; 10-13-2013 at 11:43 PM. |

I liked the show and I especially liked the actress that played Alice. I hope this survives long enough to prove the naysayers wrong. While I'll always like the characters on the original ONCE, I'm not sure that show will ever recover from too many characters and storylines. At least the new one has the potential to be a little bit more straight forward.

Finally got to see it, thought it was good. I think the CGI issue is that OUAT started off mostly in the real world and people had a chance to get into the show while this started off with a lot of CGI so some people paid too much attention to it. I also think the other issue people had, like others said, was assuming the red queen was the queen of harts and so when she was not that evil they did not like it.

I usually give a show two maybe three watches as well before deciding whether or not to continue watching it. Though it has to appeal to my interest in order to do this, and this has managed to do that w/ how they are protraying Alice and the fact that they have brought Jafar into the story has got my attention. I want to see where they are going with all of this.

This week's episode was a solid episode (not good or bad), the Red Queen was better in this epiosde than in the pilot. But ehhh I just don't care enough about this Cyrus rescue quest. I found distracting that in the pilot all Wonderland was CGI but in this episode it was location.
I wonder if they cancel this, will they incorporate some of the characters to some arc of the original show? |

I'm feeling it completely, but with such horrific ratings, ABC will have to move the show to another night and give it time to establish a core audience. I'm not optimistic that they'll give it that chance.
Would have been better to have left this to run instead of having OUAT go with reruns like they first planned. Since the suits at ABC seemed to like it so much that they changed the plans and decided to run it on its own, possibly they'll give the show more leeway than they might give something else. |
