It's not about plot or story congruence in any way. It's all about the procedural nature of each film, the bit by bit manhunt for an unbelievably dangerous and difficult-to-find man that is contained within each narrative. Both films are very similarly structured and styled; each is a taut, edge-of-your-seat thriller that far surpasses its stipulated genre, and each tracks the long history of each most-wanted case completely effortlessly. Zodiac isn't so much a film about a serial killer, just as Zero Dark Thirty isn't really about Bin Laden or even the war on terror. Each film is far more about the primary character -- Graysmith in Zodiac, Maya in Zero Dark Thirty -- and his/her chase of their respective highly-sought-after criminals. These films are about the process of tracking down such an individual, and what that search does to a person. Last edited by jmbenesh; 06-07-2013 at 04:14 AM. |

I think these two movies would make a good double feature, almost a prequel and sequel of sorts. The aliens/spacecrafts look kind of similar, imo. |

When I do a doubleheader I usually pair up a drama/thriller with a comedy/action. So that we keep it all light and fun.
An example: Vertigo and Animal House. Something gripping and surreal and then I flip the script and watch something funny to round out the night. |
