I have a FB account which is useful to stay in touch with my extended family in Asia. They can post pictures of my niece and it's easier than having the entire clan sending me emails all the time (it's a rather large family)

That is the only reason I have FB, beside that I can't really see what other use it would have.

I hate Facebook. I hate Twatter. I like the movie The Social Network, but that's about it. I pretty much hate all social networking sites where people compete to have the most amount of "friends" and "followers". I only care about what's going on in my life and it doesn't need to be posted all over the Internet.

Stop talking @ people. Start talking to people.

Also, I'm sick of the word "Hashtag". It's called a pound sign or a number sign.

I swear, these next few generations are not going to know what proper grammar is. They're going grow up thinking the word "to" is spelt with the number 2 and "you" is a one letter word.

I just have a Facebook account to keep in touch with friends from abroad as it's cheaper than calling etc. Instant messaging feature can be neat.

Other than that, i'm not tied into the whole 'friends list must be over 4k' type of activity. I know people with hundreds or even thousands of people, and personally I just find it sad. I make it a principle to only add people I know from real life, or that I've interacted with for a LOT of years through PSN and even then, I don't think I have more than 2-3 of them and my total list of friends is really 79 and only with people I've personally interacted with enough to even call an acquaintance.

Not quite the type that needs to post a status and have 500 likes in a minute. That said, i'm now actually using it for more business oriented stuff and I set up a Twitter account for that reason as well, to help market the business on social networks.

I have a Facebook. I've only had it for a little over a month, so I'm still getting used to it. I decided to make one so that I can keep up with family. I've also added some friends I know in real life, some co-workers and some people I went to high school with. It's also nice to keep up to date on certain artists and bands that I enjoy. If I don't know you in real life, I'm likely not going to add you.

I have a Facebook, but since I don't post super personal things about my life or post before/after photos of my dinner and state every thought/question that pops in my head....no one will talk to me.

I come from a different gen apparently, because when I was growing up people talked crap to one another, and joked about everything. It seems now days you can't say anything without getting your ass chewed out by the PC police. I do hang out on eBaum's World forums, though

My sense of humor is too dark for places like Facebook, so I doubt I could get away with a Twitter account, which is odd considering its name.

I'm on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+.

I have a ton of contacts on Facebook, but it's mostly friends from the local running community and people whom I meet at races. Since I joined in 2007, I've never played a single game on Facebook, and I've never reposted or shared any memes. I have a rule that every single thing that I post on Facebook has to be an original thought. If I post a music video link or a movie link, I'll write a couple of paragraphs explaining why I like it, for example. I stay completely apolitical on Facebook, and I only update my own status once or twice a week.

My LinkedIn connections consist mainly of co-workers, whom I do not allow as friends on Facebook, and assorted professional connections.

I signed up for Google+ a couple of years ago when it was the up-and-coming new social network, but I have not used it in over a year.
