Awesome, i seriously loved this movie, the pacing is unbelievable (until the thirdact), it just throws you straight in and it's breakneck all the way till the last third. I loved the globe trotting nature of it, and the 3D was awesome along with some truly fantastic set pieces.

Can't wait for part 2.

I was enjoying it until the after the plane crash but that was enough to ruin it for me. When people are laughing in the cinema at Zombies when you should be scared tells me all i need to know about the film. Also a Zombie movie without blood is a bit of a joke to be frank. They really need to up the stakes on the second one and make it much more gruesome.

I'm really looking forward to this, but I understand where you're coming from. Keep in mind that the book itself was always more about the downfall and rebuilding of society, rather than the gruesomeness of the attacks.

I attended 4 screenings.

1. A private screening with Sony execs.
2. An early release where Brad Pitt was present.
3 & 4. General, screenings with friends.

I never once heard a single soul laughing during any of the attack/zombie scenes in any of the screenings I attended.

It was mostly at the zombies at the lab, when it was just standing there snapping it's jaws, just looked a little ridiculous and people behind me started to giggle. I can see why too there wasn't any tension as it was so tame up until that point.

I liked the first one but I liked the book more, there was a few chapters of the book that I would have loved to have seen on the big screen.

Battle of Yonkers, Mets, Battle of the Five Colleges just to name a few.

Interesting. The first looked terrible and then I finally watched it and was quite surprised how good it was. This is one of those cases where I would absolutely love to see something happening at the same time as the events of the first from a different perspective and throw in some easter eggs and and whatnot. I'll be keeping my eye on this.

Steven Knight Says He Just Turned in a Draft for ‘World War Z 2’

Quote:
Steven Knight Says He Just Turned in a Draft for ‘World War Z 2’

BY ADAM CHITWOOD 08/25/2015

As evidenced by 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four, sometimes reports of a tumultuous production can indeed be indicative of a disappointing final product. But one of the best examples of the opposite is Paramount’s World War Z, which battled rumors of issues on set and word of extensive reshoots and reworking of the film’s third act. When the movie finally hit theaters, however, it actually wasn’t that bad. Moreover, the finale—the part of the film that was causing Paramount so much trouble—ended up being the most compelling and satisfying portion of the film.

And the movie was a financial success to boot. So much so that Paramount and Brad Pitt started moving forward with a sequel, signing The Impossible director Juan Antonio Bayona to take the helm and Steven Knight (Locke, Eastern Promises) to pen the screenplay. Bayona had to tackle A Monster Calls first and Pitt has his own busy schedule to accommodate, but Paramount has dated World War Z 2 for release on June 9, 2017, and it now appears that things are coming together for production to get underway next year.

Steve recently spoke with Knight in anticipation of the release of Pawn Sacrifice, and the filmmaker revealed that he just recently turned in a draft of the World War Z sequel, saying he was essentially given a blank slate when he initially came onboard:

“I was approached with the idea of, ‘How do we move this along?’ so who could resist?”

Indeed, Knight previously said the follow-up begins with a clean slate, but nothing else is known story-wise for what befalls Pitt’s character in the zombie-infested sequel. A clue may be gathered by what Knight most liked about the first film:

“I think the beauty of the first film was the way that it never paused for breath. It never spent a moment thinking, ‘Hang on a minute, we’d better tell the audience what this is all about.’ It stayed in the moment, it stayed with that person.”

So if Knight was a fan of the single POV of World War Z, one could reasonably assume he’ll be keeping that aspect of the franchise intact for the sequel. But again, we don’t know anything about the story for the follow-up at this point, so it’s unclear where the film will be going.

In the originally shot third act for Marc Forster’s film, there was a time jump that saw Pitt’s character leading a team of zombie-clearers in Russia, discovering that cold is their weakness, then setting out to rescue his wife from the clutches of Matthew Fox’s military character in the planned follow-up. It’s unclear if Pitt, Bayona, and Knight will be drawing from any of that original story for this sequel, or if they’re charting new territory. Regardless, that’s a formidable filmmaking trio and I look forward to seeing what they put together.

Director Juan Antonio Bayona Exits Brad Pitt's WORLD WAR Z Sequel

Paramount & Plan B's upcoming sequel to the $540 million Brad Pitt-starring hit that was World War Z has lost its director. A new report has revealed that director Juan Antonio Bayona has decided to bow out due to scheduling conflicts. Come check it out!

In a shocking turn of events, Deadline is reporting that due to scheduling conflicts, director Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible) has exited Paramount Pictures' & Plan B Entertainment's upcoming World War Z sequel, which stars Academy Award-winner Brad Pitt and has a script from Steven Knight (Pawn Sacrifice) & Dennis Kelly (Black Sea).

Paramount is eagerly trying to kick off production on World War Z 2 this summer in order to get it ready for its wide release in Summer 2017. Bayona is currently deep into post-production on his latest directorial venture A Monster Calls, which stars Liam Neeson (Taken) & Felicity Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and felt that he couldn't finish his commitments on that film before this summer when he would have had to shift gears to World War Z 2.

The studio released this statement to confirm his departure: “Bayona is no longer able to make World War Z 2 this year, and it is our ambition to do so. He is a wonderful director and we hope to work with him soon.”

Bummer. I'm sure Pitt will find someone good enough to come in and direct.

The zombie tongueing the air and acting surprised at Pitts actions was flat out hilarious. To this day my fiancé and I make fun of that scene.

WWZ completely lost me at the attempted rape in the grocery store. That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen in a zombie film. It made no sense for the situation, and was really dumb.

Wait what.

That'd be a hell of a script to get finches interested in a studio a Sequel.
