Watched Yogi Bear the other day .. I suppose the majority of that movie is live action. It looks very very good too. It is shot with Cameron's 3D equipment, and you can really tell.

Watched it last night, great movie, another one you can add to the list with Drive Angry and Piranha that were probably pretty bad in 2 D but were very entertaining 3D movies.

Default What is the best LOOKING non-animated 3D film?

So literally all of my Blu-Rays are animated (aside from Under The Sea Imax). I just haven't been too impressed so far on the nona-animated 3D side. So where should I begin if I am going to go for a non-animated 3D film? One that will really make me and others impressed. I'm talking about on appearance only, not how good the actual movie is. Thanks!

(Also slightly afraid as I remember getting a little dizzy by non-animated 3D but I am willing to give it a shot)

Hmm, will probably mainly be looking at Titanic & Avengers since my girlfriend would like Titanic and I haven't seen Avengers. I think I remember hearing either Mysterious Island or Journey to Center of the Earth (one of them) had AMAZING visuals. Can anyone confirm that?

Don't watch Journey to the Center of the Earth. Some of the worst 3D I've seen. Horrible framing, too much parallax with little depth (which results in nothing but eye strain) and no foreground placement. The convergence is really messed up on this title and it was the first time I felt physically strained while watching 3D.

For the record, I love strong 3D and have no problem with titles like Hugo.

Hugo, if you want a traditional theatrical movie and not an IMAX documentary. That movie opened my mind to see how 3D, especially pop-outs, can be integrated with the plot and characters to improve a film's story-telling and emotion.

Flying Swords of Dragonsgate is the best live action 3d I have seen overall I would have to say followed by Hugo.

Hugo is my favorite 3d film. It was even clever the way they animated the 3d sequences. Such a magical movie.

Nothing else compares. These two are real 3D movies, and look as good/better than animations. Other 3D live actions appear like pop-up books to me!

Avatar, Hugo, and Titanic definitely. However, even though it isn't as pronounced, Prometheus is my absolute favorite 3D blu. Nice, sharp picture and the 3D adds to the immersion.

Amazing Spider-Man(I'm in the minority, but I thought the 3d was quite good)

Haven't seen Hugo in 3d, only in 2d.
I like the movie Prometheus, but was disappointed in the 3d. Still worth a look, though.
Didn't like the movie John Carter, but thought the 3d was alright.
