Just a couple of comments on that scam.

1) Scenarist 4.1 is old.

2) He wants money - a lot of money.

This is the worst form of piracy... but I am not your mother

Just so you all know. This hdsoft2006 also tried scammming in my forum.

Do not buy SONIC Scenarist from anyone other than an authorized SONIC professional dealer. Got to the SONIC website for a list in your area.

I hope this demonstrates not only that computer translation software in general has a long way to go yet but that somebody more knowledgeable than me can respond to the request from the French questioner. His message reads:

Hello.

I want to make a simple menu for a Blu-ray disc (three buttons with a looped video background with three buttons. Each button will launch a video. At the end of each video there should be a return to the original menu - all very simple).

What simple authoring software do you suggest I use please?

And will Scenarist burn Blu-ray discs after the authoring or must I use another piece of software for the actual burning?

Im having a nightmare trying to author a disc (with a MENU!) on cyberlink power producer 4 which came with my LG drive.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Apparently on the Content (BDAV) page you should see "menu" under the edit section... but for me it is just not there!

I can author with no menu, but creating custom menu's seems impossible...

I have used Scenarist before and just gave up instantly due to the complexity of it! Plus my friend who had the copy didnt have and couldnt get the photoshop plug ins.

The Ashampoo products, even version 8, is an obvious low-price contender. Ease of use is also its key claim. No one would expect it to resemble Vegas or Premier, whose full versions cost plenty and take time to learn. However, is is basically a burn utility, period? Does it include any real video or audito editing tools? Will it import video files shot with AVCHD videocams? The firm's website does not say.

Nero 9 is also simple and sells for under $100, but definitely comes with editing and authoriting features. The site provides rather elaborate disclosure of what you get for the buck. What's most "clever" about Nero is that it can create BD or AVCHD-DVD discs with no recoding of files from AVCHD videocams. This greatly speed up the processing and reduces loss of image quality.

Cyberlink, Pinnacle, and Ulead also compete in the <$100 range, although every one of them tries to peddle bonus features that cost extra. Roxio sells some BD compatible products too.

I'm not sure any of the bargain packages supports import and export of Dolby 5.1. Most seem to downmix to 2-channels, and any multi-channeling in the output can be only an imperfect re-invention of the user.

You seem to have an old (obsolete) version of the Cyberlink ware. Its Power Director 8 should support creation of BDs with menus. Pinnacle Studio 12.1 does. Presumably, the latest Premier Elements does too.

hi mate, thanks for that, but even in Nero 9 I cannot edit the menu! It lets me select clips, create chapters etc but when it comes to the menu there is no edit option on Bluray creation. Do you know how to do it?

BDAV specs do not allow menu's so you'll need to create a BDMV structure. You might have to update to the latest version of PPro since 4 is pretty old.

I think that's the only way...

When I got my BD writer the software it was at 3.x and 4.0 just came out and I had to pay to upgrade to 4.0 which allow my PS3 to play the BDAV discs. I pretty much abandoned the Cyber stuff after that so if I need to do anything I've been using DVDit HD Pro which has it's own demons...

I think that you will need this plug-in for nero: Blu-ray Disc Authoring Plug-in. Search for in Nero homepage.
It works in Nero Vision 4.
I use Vegas Pro 8 to edit my homemade videos, export as .m2t file, than use Nero to burn my DVDs; I still don have a Blu-Ray Player, but my record drive begin, so, when i can help you, or if someone can help us, i appreciate.

Hi, do someone know about authoring software that supports 7.1 sound formats, that means Dolby True HD or DTS-HD Master Audio ? Thanks...

Hey guys, sorry to resurrect this thread. I am wondering if anyone has found something that is feature filled that will allow one to do what they want. I have PowerProducer and its utter garbage.

Thanks,

Scott

You could try multiAVCHD http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/ It is freeware tool relying on a bunch of other freeware or open source tools. It allows to author a more or less proper blu-ray (at least completely compatible with PowerDVD) with menus.

I have tired this and found it to not accomplish what I want. It also crashed for random reasons. Has anyone here ever tried Roxio DVDit HD? If so is it any good?

Thanks,
