Ummm, GU2 is his ONLY sequel, and for the most part his movies make money.

Dredd was kind of stupid and a total box office dud. Hence...no sequel.

Dredd was actually one of the smarter balls to the wall action films I've seen. I wasn't a big fan of it but kind of stupid is an incorrect label, especially when comparing to Sandler.

I really wish I understood what people see in Grown Ups. Hopefully Pacific Rim won't be this year's Cloud Atlas.

It looks official that Grown ups 2 won Friday but will come in 2nd for the weekend behind DM2. Pacific Rim looks to now come in at under $40 million for the weekend Looks to make only between $35 to $39 million.:

The thing is, people know his films are awful now but with the exception of Jack and Jill, they are all really stupid harmless fun.

Deadline claims that Thursday WAS included. I figured PR would be more front loaded. That is why you can never follow a site like this. On here, every guy was practically have a mangasm over this movie, whereas in the real world outside, I still have yet to find anyone that wants to see it. I can say the same for GU2 though.

I guess THAT'S MY BOY didn't hurt Sandler as much as I thought it would.

I can't sleep, so unsure if I will see the two films today now.

I love most of his stuff. Silly fun. But I'd add That's My Boy, 8 Crazy Nights and Chuck and Larry to that list. I hated all four of them.

I also strongly disliked Funny People and Punch Drunk Love, but I wouldn't consider them 'Sandler' movies, as he didn't bring his gang with him.

Pacific Rim will make more this weekend than Cloud Atlas did it's entire run. That said, it will still be a money loser for WB (although not to the same level as Lone Ranger to Disney).

No it was the standard reception of the modern movie viewer towards westerns. The last two hit westerns were Unforgiven (1992) and True Grit (2010). You could count Rango I suppose. I don't really count Django Unchained, it's Tarantino...

I really don't understand how they can expect to make back the money they spend on these movies.

Why did The Lone Ranger even cost that much to make? I really don't get it.

Fun fact: The Lone Ranger was postponed due to budget problems. The original budget called for around $250 million and Disney walked. They finally agreed after it was cut to $210 million.

You had the director, producer and star of one of the biggest series of films in the past 10 years. The trio of Gore Verbinski, Johhny Depp and Jerry Bruckheimer made Disney billions with Pirates. That right there is likely the logic behind Disney's faith in it.
