LOL I don't get drunk, I didn't even like alcohol before I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and now I'm practically alcohol-free altogether. R.I.P.D. has massive appeal I feel and it seems to be coming out at the right time to be the main action film people go see this weekend, we'll see how it does next weekend against Hugh Jackman though.

RIPD will not hit $20 million. it probably wont hit 20% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hopefully you caught that I was only joking with that.

But R.I.P.D won't come close to hitting half of what you predicted. I don't think any original project has hit 90 Mill and with a weekend as pack as this, nothing will for a while (and yes, it's based off a comic book, not original, but it's not a well known comic)

I believe Turbo has a chance to be first at the finish. On the other side, After Epic, now there's Despicable Me 2 and Monsters University ... in the same weeks ... I don't know. Still think Turbo is going to win.

Planes will do just fine. Young boys will eat that up the way they did Cars (since it's basically the same thing). There's already a sequel in production and scheduled for next July - Planes: Fire and Rescue.

Wolverine will clean house next weekend easily, there shouldn't even be a poll.

Young boys, and in the case of my daughter, girls as well. She loves Cars, she has every single diecast car toy, she has race track sets and all that, and she is so excited about Planes.

At Target over the weekend, saw the Planes toys already out and sighed. There goes more of my money once she notices those.

It looks cheap though. I thought I read it was set to be direct to dvd until earlier this year.

I still think with DM2, Turbo and SMurfs 2...kids might be worn out a tad. Planes is currently tracking for a 17 million opening. So, not very good.

This weekend tracking numbers have...

Conjuring at 30 million, Turbo at 22 million, Red 2 at 21 million, RIPD at 14 million.

SO take that for whatever it's worth.

Maybe the poll should be HOW MUCH it makes???

I agree Jackman will top the box office, but am the only one that is more hyper for the wide release of The Way Way Back and The To-Do List that weekend???

What have you seen that would put RIPD at $90M?

Ryan Reynolds career is over. He will probably go back to comedy but even his last few comedies haven't been hits.

early estimates:
1. The Conjuring (Warner Bros) NEW [Runs 2,903] R
Friday $16.5M, Weekend $39.0M

2. Despicable Me 2 (Illumination/Universal) Week 3 [Runs 3,820] PG
Friday $7.5M (-44%), Weekend $24.0M, Cume $275.0M

3. Grown Ups 2 (Sony) Week 2 [Runs 3,491] PG13
Friday $6.5M (-60%), Weekend $20.0M, Cume $79.5M

4. Red 2 (Summit/Lionsgate) NEW [Runs 3,016] PG13
Friday $6.2M, Weekend $18.0M

5. Turbo (DreamWorks Animation/Fox) Week [Runs 3,806] PG
Friday $6.0M, Weekend $19.0M, Cume $27.7M

6. Pacific Rim (Legendary/Warner Bros) Week 2 [Runs 3,285] PG13
Friday $4.8M, Weekend $16.0M, Cume $68.0M

7. R.I.P.D. (Universal) NEW [Runs 2,852] PG13
Friday $4.8M, Weekend $12.0M

8. The Heat (Twentieth Century Fox) Week 4 [Runs 2,689] R
Friday $2.9M, Weekend $9.5M, Cume $129.5M

9. Monsters University (Pixar/Disney) Week 5 [Runs 2,186] G
Friday $1.6M, Weekend $5.3M, Cume $249.3M

10. World War Z (Paramount) Week 5 [Runs 2,066] PG13
Friday $1.5M, Weekend $5.0M, Cume $186.8M

Cannot believe how bad Red 2 did.,, Unless it is huge overseas Red 3 is not looking likely. No surprise Turbo and RIPD bombed big time. Not a good week to be Ryan Reynolds (or mary louise Parker) . HUGE over 60% drop for Pacific Rim is awful. .

I am very happy to see an R rated almost 2 hour long horror film make huge bak this weekend. The most interesting thing about the Conjurings performance is a RARE very good to excellent Cinemascore of A- for a horror movie.
Yay for longer R rated (but not graphically gory) horror movies!

As for Pacific Rim continuing it's tank-a-thon....GOOD I say. Overrated movies that are only masterpieces in the minds of the fanboys they are aimed at deserve the failure I say!! ! I am a movie geek, but I hate when other geeks try to hype up something as more than it really is. John Carter, Scott Pilgrim, etc.
Most of my annoyances come from AINTITCOOL staff though, to be fair.
sounds like you are talking about Man Of Steel
