Thanks for the heads up! I was hoping it was just a delay and not a cancellation, glad to hear it's being delayed for a very good reason.

I just got the Hong Kong Bluray - very good video and audio quality finally. English subtitles pop up during the German dialogue.

This movie has got to be the most uncomfortable third-wheel movie I've ever seen. The Peter MacNicol character, Jesus Christ, give a couple some space!

Can anyone confirm that the German release is Region Free? I know it is Universal, but thought I'd check. In addition, are there any special features? Thanks.

Yes, the German release is region free. It also comes with a variety of foreign language options. Interestingly, Streep did the dubbing for the French release of the film and it is included.
The only special features are TV spots advertising the film's release and a theatrical trailer. But the transfer is solid, clear (with some inherent softness) and looks quite as I remembered it in theatrical presentations.

I have the UK ITV release of CAPRICORN ONE. Although there are no Bonus Features the PQ is very nice. I'm a bit disappointed however with the sound. There is some distortion and breakup as if it were recorded too high - and this is during dialog sequences. The film was release, selectively, in 4track stereo & 6track in bumped up 70mm, but who knows what elements were used for the transfer. An audio upgrade is needed - Jerry Goldsmith's score is incredible.
Also, another ITC film that might be part of the package, THE COMPANY OF WOLVES is another ITV release. That master is also very nice with a 2.0 Dolby Surround mix (the original mix). But again, no extras. I really like this film and hope it also gets a North American release. Too many people have forgotten it and only aware of the newer rip-off RED RIDING HOOD.

I have the Spanish Sophie's Choice (Universal) and blown through a projector the PQ is VERY mediocre. It's extremely soft and doesn't look much better than the dvd. Maybe on smaller sets it looks ok, but it is pretty bad IMHO.

I've been wanting to see this movie for a long time but can't stand the DVD's non-anamorphic widescreen "keyhole" look so I've held off on watching it. Glad to hear I'll have another option in a few months!

Caught this in HD recently on some movie channel and I agree, the PQ was pretty terrible.

If this is what held up the BD, it was definitely worth it. I hope they have the 1990s retrospective doc and the Pakula commentary that were on the DVD as well.

I wonder what the chances of Walmart, Best Buy or Target getting this in store?

Anyone else notice a permanent oval shaped mark on the bottom center of transfer?

beg to differ.
