Most likely since nothing official has been announced. Anyone could just put that date in.

Love the cover and really enjoyed the movie. It's my favorite Superhero film of 2013.

I was really enjoying the movie up until
[Show spoiler]the third act. Everything about that last sequence in the tower where Mariko was, killed it for me. Viper was awesome throughout, and I respected her being such a strong female character, but then I couldn't take her seriously when she started shedding and spitting at everyone by puffing her cheeks up. That was ridiculous and stupid. I couldn't take that seriously at all.

The Silver Samurai was unfortunately spoiled by the trailer, and I'll admit I would have enjoyed that reveal much more if the trailer wasn't such a prick, but whatever. The fight was interesting, and I thought it would have been cool for Wolverine to get his knives cut off and be able to defeat the Steel Samurai without his powers... unfortunately the creators had a different idea in mind.

The effects on the burning sword were great, but everything else looked super cheesy. Then the part where you find out it's Mariko's grandfather in the suit... seriously? Was I supposed to be taken aback and totally shocked, and just run with this revelation? That was ridiculous. It was like a really bad videogame, with a bombastic final boss battle with a terribly forced twist and reveal. Just awful.

Up until that battle, though, I thought it was a great movie. It had some nice thoughts about immortality and even went the extra mile by making Wolverine lose his immortality (or at least, have a weaker version of it). While he was finding himself and learning to let go of Jean, he was just as human as all of us, and he was going to get his powers back when he let go of her... Buuut obviously that's not how it went down. 90% of it happened, but not that last part which I deem the most important.

I feel like the idea of him losing his strength was a great one, but ultimately insignificant. I can't think of a reason why that mattered in the plot at all. Was it to give him more vulnerability for the sake of suspense? That worked until he ripped the Matrix bug off of his heart, but after that, he was the same invincible Wolverine. It was a part of his character arc that didn't make much sense to me at the end of the film. It felt really... insignificant, as I said.

Of course I was very happy with the positive and strong portrayal for most of the women. Mariko, even though she was a bit of a damsel, was very strong and was able to fend for herself especially at the end. And the other girl, with the sword, was great. I wish they showed more swordfighting from her, honestly. Viper was a great villain up until she starting spitting on everything (as I said already)... yeah! All in all, a much more positive portrayal of women than I'm used to seeing in superhero movies. The Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel, and now The Wolverine: great movies about heroes, with very strong female characters in the cast!

The bullet train sequence, where Wolverine was fighting the Yakuza dude on top, was so incredible. That was amazing. I loved that part a lot. One of the standout moments from the film. Suspenseful, crazy, unique, and very well-done.

I enjoyed the dramatic angle for Logan, and how throughout the film he was haunted by the memory of Jean, until he finally let her go. That last part should have had more impact, though, and I'm not sure why it lacked so much for me. The other dramatic elements were refreshing, especially since Logan was not cocky in this film like I remember him in the other ones. He was very human, made mistakes, and was able to build himself back up again, much like the studios after X-Men Origins: Wolverine!

The Wolverine was a great movie up until that final battle, but I won't let that stop me from enjoying the rest of it. At least it wasn't another Iron Man 3. I'd say this is a solid 7.9, since that battle really soured my enjoyment. Without it, maybe an 8.3.

The midcredits stinger was very interesting! I don't want to say too much since I think it has a lot to do with Days of Future Past, but it was a great end credits scene, and more substantial than usual!

I'll probably be picking this up eventually I wonder what the 3D is like. Strangely, none of my theaters were showing it in 3D

Damn, that spoiler made me sit back. I was expecting a paragraph, or so.

Haha, sorry about that... yeah, I clicked on it just for funsies, and was honestly very surprised as well! I didn't realize I wrote so much, and the spoiler tag truncating it to a single word certainly doesn't help my case

Sorry

I wonder if this release will have an extended version or if it will come out separately at a later date. I definitely liked this movie, especially after the messes that were X3 and X-Men Origins. I'm glad to hear there was more of the ninja fight, because that felt like it should've been bigger and it ended pretty quickly without much of a fight. I thought the
[Show spoiler]Silver Samurai was too big and looked a little too much like Iron Monger. I think he should've been a normal size, and the fight scene could've been great with Wolverine losing his claws and having to have a swordfight with the samurai.
I also thought that Viper should've just
[Show spoiler]been a toxin specialist. At the end, she was quickly approaching Uma Thurman/Poison Ivy territory. That outfit was ridiculous, as was the skin-shedding.
Overall, I thought it was a great movie. I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm pretty sure it'll be on Blu-ray. Maybe it'll be like The A-Team blu-ray. Two different cuts on the same disc (although I despise the Extended cut of the A-Team ).
