The new DVD that was released at the same time as this bluray is finally Anamorphic. I ordered a bluray and a DVD... I'm kinda thinking the DVD will be just as bare bones as this one, but I'll do a comparison to how the new DVD and the Bluray stack up against the old R1 DVD and the old European anamorphic releases.

I was under the impression that this was a misinformation and that these had in fact the same transfer as the US DVD. At least that's what I heard when I considered upgrading. Although I admit I didn't look further into it.

Right on. It'll be good to see what you think; compared to a genuine anamorphic widescreen DVD, I'm not sure if the Blu-Ray would be an improvement or not. I predict a very slight improvement, maybe.

Got this today. I always had a soft spot for the film being a fan of the game series.

The transfer is really bad. Only get it if you are a fan.

Sadly, I'm a little let down. The PQ is pretty iffy; colors and contrast are just okay, and with all the DNR, the whole thing looks like it could have been filmed on a random digital camcorder. Anything has to be better than the non-anamorphic DVD transfer, which was horrible.

Interesting. Poking around that site, I also discovered an electronic press kit with a featurette, trailers, interviews and other bits and pieces. I wonder why they didn't include it on the BD?

Yeah! Some of the European releases have some of the features... I know the featurette has shown up on one or two.

This is one movie even most fans of the game series will avoid.

This is how the movie should be like:

Even the dated visual effects( this is before Babylon 5) doesn't deter The Price of Freedom from it's quality.

One of the worst films I have ever seen. Some of my friends still mention to me how I made them go see it so I could see the Star Wars Episode I trailer that was playing before it. They probably will never forgive me.
