Fixed. Mcgregor was good, but I found him to be at his woodenest in EPIII, oddly enough. Pretty much on par with Christensen. His acting just got worse with each prequel.

I disagree strongly. I thought McGregor was at his in Episode III. He did remarkable with the character, even with Lucas' lack of direction. Not wooden in the slightest.

That really was remarkable. AG's Obi-wan wasn't smarmy but he definitely had a playful, almost smirky sense of humor that EM was able to capture perfectly.

I had absolutely no trouble believing the two Obi-wans were the same person without ever feeling like I was being beaten over the head with it.

A vast universe filled with endless possibilities and we are still only getting movies with characters we have seen before.

Because a movie about completely new characters in space who can move stuff with their minds might as well be "X-Men in Space!"

Agreed, I felt he got better with each film and became more comfortable in his role. He never got a chance to shine in TPM except with the lightsaber duel at the end.

Whenever I think of Obi-Wan however, this scene pops into my head.

Same here. He's the best thing about the prequels and I'd love to see something with him set between eps III and IV.

Wait.....wut? Obi-Wan Kenobi? Ewan McGregor? Well sh*t, count me in!

Agree with others - EM was the best thing about the prequels. I thought Neeson was the best thing about TPM, but EM excelled in the other two.

Given the choice of character for a standalone movie, OWK would definitely be my pick. Solo would be great too, but that's going to be need re-casting, with OWK, you have a ready-made great pick sitting there already.

This would be great if it's right.

I thought Ewan was let down by the prequels and am surprised to hear he's game for another performance as Obi-Wan. I'm game too if he's willing. He's a great actor that hasn't really gotten his due.

That being said, I don't want to see Obi Wan' s parents, or him growing up as a kid. It's unnecessary and smacks of milking the franchise as the rumors of all these spin-offs do. I wish they'd stick with the numbered sequels alone.
I have to agree with Walt in that I don't think they'd focus on his origins or his parents. Even though we haven't seen him as a kid, we have seen him as a Jedi in training, and I don't see them setting the story any earlier than that. There's plenty of prime storytelling real estate between the events of Episode III and Episode IV. And while I agree these standalone films reek of franchise milking, there's an opportunity to be smart with these films and expand the universe further. I'm sure they'll attract many talented filmmakers who have only dreamt of making a Star Wars film, even if it's not necessarily one of the "episodes."

And I definitely agree with everything you said about Ewan.

Lol obvious smirk is obvious.

On a more serious note, I'd love to see him reprise his role as Obi-Wan.

He nailed the character imo.

Other than a Cad Bane, KOTOR film, this is definitely probably the only other SW's character I'd be interested in.

Well, even if the Obi Wan film is set between the episodes, they've kind of painted themselves into a corner because he can't do too much to impact the overall story and they basically sent him off at the end of episode III to watch over Luke on Tatooine so he can't really go off on all kinds of crazy adventures either.
Why does any spin-off movie have to be an origin of known characters anyway? The galaxy is vast. Go off into another part and create some new characters but incorporate known things like Jedi, the force, the empire and maybe some references and cameos to keep it connected. Be imaginative.
Back stories will only get you so far.

Maybe because he knows Lucas isn't directing...

The book "Kenobi" is a good indication of what could be done with Obi-Wan while he's watching over Luke on Tatooine. That's definitely one of my favorite Star Wars books and I could see something similar being made into a movie and being really good.

I would LOVE to see the scene from the Visionaries comic when Darth Maul attacks Obiwan on tatooine. The Clone Wars has already established he is still alive in the Cannon so throwing him is a movie isn't far fetched.

Should just be a about Obi-Wan hanging out at Mos Eisley. There must be a reason he knows it's a hive of scum and villainy.

Obi-Wan just being like Cain. Roaming the desert, helping others, keeping an eye on Luke.

As long as McGregor and Joel Edgerton return.

Not necessarily.

The PT obviously had a lot of problems but 'we know how all this ends' wasn't really one of them.

And there's really no reason he can't go off on crazy adventures either. There's no compelling story reason to keep him on the ground on Tattoine for the entire thirty or so years between Sith and Star Wars.

Obviously he's not going to defeat Vader or overthrow the Empire but there's all sorts of fun mischief he could get himself up to.
