Family Video (online store) have it for $14.99, plus $1.99 for S/H, and including approximately $0.51 for tax, totaling $17.49. This is the cheapest price I could find right now. Their shipping & handling fee, is for any size order. So you'll save more on S/H, if you buy more than one item.

And now for even $ 1 less. I took the chance.
![]() I've seen Bad Dreams in the theater and have been a fan since then. Owned it on VHS and DVD before. Visiting Hours I've seen later on VHS. Good movie, but not as good as B.D. |

I foolishly chose UPS for a recent order thinking it would get to me faster. Maybe by a day or even 2 but it's still not worth what I paid extra ($8.99). Part of the reason I chose Mr. Brown was I thought Family Video was based in Illinois (I'm on the East Coast) so I assumed shipping time would be shortened somewhat but my package was sent from San Leandro, CA. Next time I'll go with the $1.99 ![]() |

I prefer VISTING HOURS over BAD DREAMS which sucks imho. The ending leaves a lot to be desired. VISITING HOURS has a great performance by Michael Ironside. The story is a lot like HALLOWEEN 2 where a killer misses out on dispatching his prey and continues the hunt in a creepy empty hospital. Always liked this one.
As for the blu, I think VISITING HOURS looks great but BAD DREAMS looks like an upconvert. |

I just finished watching Bad Dreams, and I am now going through the bonus features.
In all honesty, Visiting Hours is the main attraction of this Scream Factory Double Feature for me, but I do remember renting Bad Dreams during the late 1980s when it was first released on VHS at the video rental stores and being somewhat disturbed by the cult religion story elements. The best way that I can describe Bad Dreams to prospective viewers is to say that it comes across as a mash-up of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) and Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011). It's probably no coincidence, in fact, that the beautiful Jennifer Rubin, who played the drug-addicted babe in Dream Warriors, is featured in this film as the last survivor of a mass cult suicide who finds herself in a mental hospital surrounded by a diverse lot of patients. Dean Cameron, who plays a fellow patient, always puts a smile on my face, because I associate him with his character in Summer School (1987). Harris Yulin, who excelled as a shady character in the 1987 film, The Believers, is icily effective in this movie as well. Finally, Richard Lynch, who plays a cult leader, will be recognizable to anyone who watched a lot of television shows during the 1980s. I'm always oddly fascinated by movies about religious cults and alternative ways of life here in America. Bad Dreams is not a masterpiece by any stretch, but it is an interesting film in so many ways because of its subject matter involving the struggles of someone who has been brainwashed by such a cult. One particular plot development in this movie may draw comparisons to the real-life events of David Koresh, his Branch Davidian group, and the Waco, Texas siege back in 1993. I hope that nobody is offended by the movie, and I hope that the parallels do not prevent anyone from checking it out. |

I just finished watching Visiting Hours, and I enjoyed the experience of revisiting this flick for the first time in a couple of decades.
Michael Ironside's character is one of the most disturbing villains from the early-1980s slasher films, and his presence still packs a punch today. He is one evil guy, but the story makes it possible for us to relate to him in an offbeat way because of how the events in his life lead to him becoming the character in question. Lee Grant is a great lead, and one of the best examples of a strong female character in a horror film. I've always thought that, in overall terms, the early 1980s slasher films were great at promoting women as strong characters who could fight to the end to overcome extreme situations, and Grant's anchorwoman is a front runner in this regard. I had a big crush on Linda Purl (the nurse) when I saw this movie back in the day, and I still think that she's gorgeous. She gets a lot of screen time with some convincing interactions, and I cannot get enough of her during the film. Visiting Hours drags during a few sequences, but it still maintains tension quite well even by today's standards. The theatrical trailer for this movie has always been one of my faves. |
