Count me in for Tremors. I'm waiting on it until it's re-done. I might just be stuck with my DVD forever, though. Oh well.

The only bd that I have regretted upgrading was the UK release of A Bronx Tale. The bd looks to be from the same master as the dvd but with more dnr. Universal, go figure. I gave my dvd away when I preorderd this disc. I had to buy another dvd as I can't ask for the gift back.

I couldn't remember the original sound effects to any movie, if my life depended on it. Gunshots and explosions all sound the same to me, whether if the soundtrack has been altered or not.

I imported the Optimum release earlier this year. The lossless audio is a great improvement over the US release. The PQ has less digital noise as well.

Nothing, except for the lack of extras.

But on topic for this post....skewed slightly. I would double dip for better A/V presentations of Unforgiven, Goodfellas, Interview with the Vampire, Predator, Resevior Dogs, Dark City amongst other titles that I bought during the format's early days.

Agreed. Hope this doesn't become a trend.

Point Break. I own the original release but it is in desperate need of an upgrade.

I'd love transfers of Reservoir Dogs, Fargo, and The Good/Bad/Ugly that aren't piping hot garbage. The Truman Show is an unholy abomination, botched in every way you could conceivably botch a video transfer. The Longest Day is a Patton-caliber disaster that I'm suprised Fox still hasn't rectified. Then you've got Universal's back catalog, enough said. The Big Lebowski, The Thing, and the BTTF films are the ones I'd most like to see redone.

Judging from the reviews that I have read of Sony's 4K releases I think that it will become a trend with Sony. I'm sure Sony will release 2 disc deluxe 4K editions to rake in more money. Yay...

I'm not that picky when it comes to PQ. Don't get me wrong, though. I love being wowed by amazing visuals but at the end of the day, it's the movie that counts. So, if the quality isn't quite top notch and the price is low enough, I'll buy it and be happy.

Still, movies I would really love to see again with better visuals:

Heat
Jurassic Park
Ronin
The Da Vinci Code

After reading through everyone else's posts, there were quite a few that had slipped my mind:

Predator, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Thing, The Big Lebowski, American Psycho(US release), Fargo.

I would love to have better presentations of these too.

The Star Trek movies with Kirk and Spock. I've read that Paramount just reused old transfers rather than try for something state of the art.

I'm not sure about the others, but Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan looks quite nice in its existing edition. My stand-alone Blu-ray of The Wrath of Khan is the only Star Trek film that I own.

^^ I never got beyond partway into the Khan Star Trek movie (around where Chekov
[Show spoiler]has something crawling into his ear
; on my set something just looked off for that film. Just haven't got back to it or the rest since, though I suppose another shot with newer hardware is in the cards, maybe.

Speaking of off, having just watched The Fugitive re-do and not seeing what I recall as diginoise during night time scenes (I could be misremembering), I'd really like WB to give Body Heat another shot (the diginoise was pretty dreadful there during at least one night time sequence that I distintcly remember). I'm sure they could fix that one up pretty well if they wanted to.

I bought the Star Trek 3 pack of vol. 2-4 when it was released, which looked very good on my set up at the time (50" 720p with lossy 5.1 surround). I haven't felt the need to revisit these films in the last four and a half years....but I think the experience will be similar or better on my current set up (84" 1080p projector with lossless 7.1 surround).

Edit: IIRC, Paramount showed more love to these movies than they did with other 80's releases at the time.

The Wrath of Khan was actually the only Star Trek film of the original six to receive a new master. It easily blows the other five out of the water.
