See, I liked the way that their amazement was more subdued than you might see in other sci-fi films, firstly because it's hard to pull off convincingly for an actor; and secondly because they'd been on a spaceship for such a long time, you could see when

You put down my opinion, which is fine, but then insulted me and it came off as anything unintentional. It is precisely because we're just discussing film that I felt your comment was unnecessary.

Lets just move on and not further disrupt the thread.

In either case, please let me know asap.
What works on one Region B player will work on all Region B players but I can confirm Europa Report is definitely Region A locked, good thing I have a multiregion LG player.

I love films like this. It is only $18 on Amazon right now and that price seems good to me. I'm going for it. We don't get too many movies like this for me to pass up. Hoping it is good.

I watched this a couple nights ago and I thought it was decent. It played like Apollo 18, but it wasn't near as silly and cliche. Still, there was a point in the film where I got tired of the found footage nature and so forth. I'd give it a 6/10 and say it's worth a rental.

Is it better than Frankensteins Army? That was turgid.

The German edition is out next week. It is Region B and has an English HD-audio option. I have ordered it.

I liked it, i think the whole "found footage "thing didn't work at first for me ,got tired of it ,lot of movies pushing it,but watching the whole movie it made sense.
If you liked Moon(S.Rockwell) you gonna like this one too.

Too bad the movie is not. IMHO films like Moon are much better.

Ill agree - just watched it last night. It had its "moments" but then they all do, right? Just lacked any intenssity and the characters werent all that interesting. The usual mix shall we say? Im not a big fan of found footage but it didnt hurt this film too badly. It needed more to make me care about and that was its biggest flaw.

I hated Apollo 13 for the very reasons you mentioned(and others). This film isnt really like that. Its just them out there, no contact with people a short distance. There werent any "try and duct tape this and see what happens" nonsense

Ill go 5/10 and worth a rental but thats it.

I must say though - the woman who played Katya's character was positivley gorgeous. My goodness.

I watched it back when Magnolia was rolling the film out in VOD in July. Was good. I'll pick it up when it drops to about $7.99 or import the 3D converted German Blu-ray when it gets cheap.

I got the German BD (with English dialogue present) 3 days ago and watched it the same evening. I found the movie to be excellent, exactly what I expected. Unlike some reports it is not a true "found footage" story.......rather "recovered footage" from an known mission. The characters are extrmely realistically presented and the nuances are excatly as what most experts predict would be on a very long space-flight. The documentary style suits the script and it makes a lasting impression, unlike commercial films. Highly recommended for those who appreciate such a film.

Can you list the special features with the running times ? That would be great.

I didn't feel that way at all. As the review here at blu-ray.com points out, in the disc extra with Bear McCreary, the composer, McCreary suggests (whether he has knowledge that this is what the filmmakers had in mind, or it's just his interpretation, is not clear) that we're not just watching a movie within a movie -- which is essentially what a "found footage" narrative structure is -- but a movie within a movie within a movie. We're not seeing a (pseudo-)documentary about the Europa mission, but a documentary by Europa Ventures intended to shape and spin the story to make it seem less of a disaster than it was.

What the blu-ray.com review does not point out is that the seemingly jumbled chronology (another sore point with some viewers) isn't really that jumbled. For the most part (though not completely), the sequencing of events follows the subjective viewpoint of the film's narrator (Embeth Davidtz's Dr. Unger). We see events pretty much in the order that she finds out about them.
